Customer Reviews of Zero Effect
Intelligent, funny and engaging. Original and well-made. This is a great underrated and under-recognized movie. The movie was written and directed by young first-time director Jake Kasdan. Zero Effect has an excellent ensemble cast led by Bill Pullman as Darly Zero genious private detective, detached and objective, sometimes too detached. Ben Stiller is Zero's unappreciated agent, public face and Watson. Kim Dickens manages to pull off the impossible role of the 90's woman who is strong, adept, sexy, intelligent and approachable. Ryan O'Neal is perferct as the aging jock exec who is being blackmailed. This is a well crafted movie in every repect form the graphics and music in the opening credits to the exquisitely shot final scene where great writing, acting, cinematography and music are combined with sensitivity and authority to form a work of art
subtle...brilliant....
I always wanted to rent this film because the cover looked so damn cool. Well after hearing a lot of good things from various friends I finally saw it. Wow.... it's an amazing film. Stiller and Pullman are perfect together. After seeing this movie you'll finally be able to forgive Bill Pullman for his part in the oh so mundane "Independence Day". Stiller, believe it or not, flexes a little bit of acting muscle in this film as well. This film isn't flashy at all it dazzles you with intelligent, flawless writing and strong acting. This movie is interesting, funny, romantic, clever... it's one of those hidden gems that only a handful of people will be lucky enough to see. This movie is not hard too watch in the slightest bit it's very, very digestible. I think the point of my rambling is this movie is an excellent way to spend 116 minutes of your life.
Zero Effect
The name says it all doesn't it. It had Zero Effect on me and my two buddies who watched it with me. I hope Ben stiller and Bill Pullman gave what they earned to charity. At least that way their time would have been waisted for a good cause. If only I had given the five euro rental charge to charity instead of the rental shop. I would have save myself a major BARF session. I'm giving this one five thumbs up, my lowest rating yet! The time I put into Zero Effect could have been spent talking to this babe I like.
