Customer Reviews of Zalman Reserater 1 tower cooling system
a quiet conversation piece I ordered the Zalman Reserator Plus to help quiet down my overclocked computer. The computer is a Pentium 4 2.8 oc'd to 3.2ghz, 2GB DDR, Windows XP SP2, and Nvidia 6800 Ultra oc'd to 430/1.15, and SATA RAID drives. I had a good Thermaltake heatsink on the CPU and stock cooling (loud) on the video card. I decided to buy this water cooler to see if it would cool down my system any better than air cooling and also quiet it down. In the item description, it appears as if the Northbridge water cooling heatsink is included in the package, it is not, I was initially quite unhappy. In retrospect, the Northbridge heatsink fan that I have is very quiet so I'll let it slide. Also, the heat generated by the CPU and video card under load is about all this radiator can handle. If I were to add the Northbridge to the system, I think that it might overtax the cooling abilities of the radiator. Installing the watercooler was pretty easy, especially if you can install an aftermarket heatsink. What I found after testing is that the system is a lot quieter, and now the loudest component is the fan in the power supply. I can even hear the clicking of the hard drives when they are working. As for temperatures, they are exactly the same as with aircooling. So, all I gained was a quieter computer and a cool looking water-filled heatsink tower sitting on my desk.

I found it most amusing but it was a lot of work and this particular product only works so-so (though I must admit, it looks really cool). I get over temperature alarms pretty regularly and am thinking about putting a Peltier device in-line to increase the thermal delta so the processor and ....
