Customer Reviews of XB Lego Star Wars
Finally, an awesome title for kids and parents This game is a great game for parents to play with their kids or even kids of varying levels to play togethor. The price may be on the high side but games that are so well tuned to kids play yet still fun for grownups don't come along very often. <
> <
>The purpose of this game is to find and collect things as you work your way through the level. Once you complete a level you can go back and play it any number of times in free play mode. This is important as you won't be able to find and unlock everything in story mode. <
> <
>Individual lego peices constitue money and the money can be spent on unlocking additional characters or game enhancements (mustaches, purple lightsabers, invincibility). Canisters contain pieces to little lego ships that get built and live in the parking lot. Special blue sparkly lego pieces constitute 'jedi ability' and gain you pieces to an additional special lego ship. <
> <
>It is not easy to find all the canisters and sparkly blue things and will require a couple trips through a given level. In freeplay mode you can play any unlocked character and switch between them. This becomes crucial to solving puzzles to obtain 'stuff'. <
> <
>'Killing' an enemey means breaking them into little lego bits. The significant majority of the enemy are 'robots' of some form or another. As the parent of sensitive 4 and 6 year olds this is very good. <
> <
>Each player has unlimited lives. You get four hearts per life although new hearts are usually readily availalble. Losing a life means losing some of the points that you had collected so far in the level. You never lose canisters or sparkly blue things. That means that having your little one play along with you adds no stress since they can't impede overall progress. That in itself is just awesome. The ability for either player to pop in or out at any point adds to the low stress inclusion factor. <

>The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that the camera isn't controllable and that sometimes that makes for akward play as somethings you can't see your characters or the stuff they need to do. <
> <
>There is a ton of stuff to unlock in this game all of which are fun. Seeing the little lego people duke it out is fun, as is seeing the in game lego creations. Star wars fans will especially love this as the various levels cover scenes from all three movies. <

>I just wish I could get my wife to play this...
Fresh, New Concept
This game is great. Bottom line. A combat game based on Star Wars, using Legos! No blood. No gory sounds (except for the crumbling of legos as they bounce across the floor). As a parent, this is a wonderful alternative for my 7 year old, who adores Star Wars.

>Plus you get to play with Lightsabers!!!! If this were 1980, I'd be in heaven! Legos, Lightsabers, and Star Wars! Pass the chocolate milk and cookies!

>There are some great features included as well, especially for those in my situation--the game is for my kid, but some of the puzzles are just a little too tough for him. The "drop in" play is fabulous. If my son gets stuck, I can pick up another controller, help him out for 5 minutes, and jump out. There's no requirement for me to play through to a tough spot with him. Jump in, get'er done, drop out.

>Also, it can be played in "story line" mode or "free play" mode. Each has its benefits.

>Dexter's Diner allows you to change between unlocked content very quickly.

<
>Two things lacking--I don't see where it has any kind of "head to head" mode, which could be enjoyable. It doesn't take away from the package, though. You CAN battle head to head, but there's no real forum for it, which would be nice. As is, you can whack the other guy whenever/where ever you like. Something slightly more formal would be fun.

>The other thing I wish it required is a little more strategy and planning. The puzzles are reasonable for the "Everyone" tag, but I wish they required a little more strategy or planning. As I see it currently, if you don't have the right character, you can just switch on the fly. It would be a nice touch to require the player to plan ahead for a segment, and have to bring the right "resources" along.

>Five out of Five stars! 9.5 out of 10 on a 10 point scale!
Do not buy - It doesn't work
It is quite a good game for kids but is not worth top dollar. Also it crashes if you play it for more than an hour. I had to return it.
