Customer Reviews of X-Men
Great Game I got X-Men eleven or twelve years ago when my parents got me a Sega Genesis. It was my first video game and to this day it is still one of my favorite games. And even now in the days of the PS2 and Xbox, I'll still frequently pop this game into my Genesis and play. It's simple, fun and familiar. <

>The game lets you play as four X-Men (Gambit, Nightcrawler, Wolverine and Cyclops) and has five backup characters (Archangel, Storm, Rouge, Iceman and Jean Grey) that you can't play as, but you can call upon if you need help. The game brilliantly features the X-Men's different powers. <

>Each of the six levels are recognizable to people who are into X-Men...the Savage Land, the Shi'ar Empire, Excalibur's Lighthouse and Asteroid M to name most of them. The levels are interesting and well-detailed for a 16-bit game. They're also relatively big. <

>The boss fights are really great, too. Characters like Juggernaut, Sabertooth, Apocalypse, Mojo and obvously Magneto show up. Unfourtunately, a lot of them are really difficult to beat (not impossible) without backup characters, which is the only real problem with this game. <

>If you still own a working Genesis and don't have this game or haven't played this game before, I recommend looking for it.
Just to balance the other reviews...
X-Men is a fun game... on ameatur difficulty level. When I cranked it up to Hero (since you can't get any farther than the third level on ameatur), I found it almost impossible to do anything. I got tired of playing the levels all over again, fighting the same, almost randomly apearing enemies coming from doors at any moment and surrounding me. Although the game may have captured the feel of the X-Men, I didn't think they did a good job with the actual game aspect, which is probably the most important thing. If you want to play a good Marvel game, try Marvel Super-heroes: war of the Gems. It is much more balanced and fun than Sega's attempt at making an X-men game.
An excellent video game classic!
This video game is an absolutely amazing video game that still is a great memory on my part.
The graphics on this game were absolutely amazing for their time when this game came out somewhere around in 1994-ish. While it's definately a bit dated by today's standards the first X-Men game was the best Marvel COmic video game that I ever got to play.
I loved the sound the game would make then an X-Men character would lose a life and some of the sound effects were just so cool especially the air bomb sound effects when Storm would come down and wipe out the bad guys in the picture. So funny.
This game holds a special place in my memories and when I move on to heaven, I hope Jesus has my old Sega Genesis up there for me to play for a while before I take up form again in my next incarnation.
If you can find it, buy it! It's worth the price. They should re-release this on computer or the next video game system.
