Customer Reviews of X-Men: Captive Hearts
Simply a great cartoon series. Period! Let me say first that the X-Men are the best cartoon series to ever have been made. I've read the comics and have loved doing so since I first heard of the X-Men. There have been several incarnations of the comics on cartoon shows and the 1992-1996 version is my favorite of them. This episode of that incarnation of the timeless X-Men franchise called "Captive Hearts" finds the X-Men going head to head with an underground subway mutant society called The Morlocks. It all starts Wolverine recuperating after receiving a nasty slash wound from Sabertooth who failed to inflict more damage because of being blasted back by Jubilee's powers and driven away. The main event begins with a mutant kid stealing grapefruits and Jean Grey and Cyclops are eventually taken by the young mutant's colleagues. The X-Men enter an abandoned subway to find and rescue them and Storm eventually takes up the role as the leader during their melee with the Morlocks and faces off against their leader. What I find interesting about this episode in my opinion is that there aren't like total villains like Nimrod, Mr. Sinister, or Mystique although some Morlocks do wind up seeing a star or two floating above their heads but overall, there is no real 'total warfare' like if it were against Mr. Sinister or Apocalypse, and ultimate the two parties eventually make peace with each other. However, while this episode main event would be over, the precursor to the following episode "Cold Vengeance" would be shown with Jean Grey finding Wolverine gone. A great episode to enjoy for all X-Men-heads like myself. :-)
