Customer Reviews of Wrongfully Accused
Good movie, Good features, Full-Screen? Besides Airplane! and the Naked Gun movies, this is definately one of Leslie Nielsen's funniest, spoofing over 35 movies, including THE FUGITIVE. You can watch this over and over and still laugh and laugh even throughout the entire credits. This was written, directed, and produced by Pat Proft, creator of the POLICE ACADEMY, NAKED GUN, and HOT SHOTS! films.
The DVD itself was released in 1998, the same year as the movie. For a movie and small as this in 1998, this DVD has lots of special features, more than some DVDs released today. This DVD features a DVD-ROM trivia game, an interview with the cast, many trailers, and a slide show. On top of that there are also two featurettes. The first, (VISUAL F/X) is located in the special features menu and is an 8-minute documentary of the special effects in the movie. The second, (PRODUCTION NOTES) is located in the "about the film" menu and is a 5-to-10-minute documentary about the movie itself and some additional special effects in the movie.
The movie is also presented in a theatrical Dolby Digial 5.1 soundtrack, which I thought was quite pleasing for such an old DVD. During some of the action scenes, the surround effect can be heard with a light bass. The picture quality was very pleasing as well with very colorful and bright images, however a few minor distractions here and there, but nothing to take your eye off the screen.
You are probably wondering why I gave this movie 4 stars. That is simply because the movie was very featured in a full-frame format, as opposed widescreen. Besides that, if you are a spoof fan, go out and rent or even buy this movie and you will definately love it.
Commenting on the ONE star review - it's at least 4
(...) there are so many subtle jokes in this movie and most are sound effects or announcments (like in the hospital), or you have to pay very close attention to the dialog. Leslie does some great physical comedy in this movie (a major scene in the hospital)and some of the jokes and parodies you just can't get without seeing the original movies. Turn up the volume on this movie really loud so you don't miss anything. This movie definetly appeals to certain fans and if your not a fan of hot shots or hot shots part deux, or Mafia or Jim Abrahams or the Airplane movies or even BASEketball, you should probably rent this first or avoid it. If those kinds of movies are your cup of tea and some of your favorites, then don't miss this movie. i'd also see the Fugitive first too. with all the humor in this movie and so many chances for a laugh (watch the podium at the Lord of the violin concert)or the air vent when Nielsen is in scottish garb) i can't believe a person would get ONLY ONE laugh out of this. (...) I admit the naked gun flicks are classic but this is more along the lines of Hot Shots than the naked gun movies.
Leslie Nielsen, King of Slapstick
If you haven't watched this outragously funny movie, watch it because its a guarantee that it will keep you laughing till you gut busts, great spoof from famous movies and a really funny story to go with it, this movie has earned it's position as the greatest slapstick movie of all time, i recommend with this that you watch another classic slapstick comedy, 'Airplane'. 10/10.
