Customer Reviews of World of Hockey: Ice & Asphalt
Lots of show but little meat Luc pulled some strings to put this video together. Visually its very nice. Lots of candid hockey and TV/Film stars. Enjoyed the section on how equipment is made. Its a good video for someone wanting to look at playing hockey from the 5000 foot mark. As for education of hockey, drills and anything which you may look at as a coach, its almost useless. The very few drills that are done are difficult to view due to un-needed special effects. If you looking for a "coaching" or player improvement video, look at the Power Roller Hockey series.
Just what was needed
I bought this movie because my children love to play both ice hockey and roller hockey. It does a good job of covering both topics but the thing I appreciated the most was how much they stressed having the proper equipment before playing. This point coming from professionals backed up everything I try to stress to my children. My children have worn this tape out so I consider it a winner.
You could do better
This video covers a wide variety of hockey topics from conditioning, to skating, to equipment manufacture, to hockey video games which are quite interesting. However, Luc Robitaille is stiff and a cheesy presenter, and some of the interviews are downright contrived. Also, don't expect too much from the star billings - Jason Priestley and Mike Myers say about one sentence each.
