Customer Reviews of World Encores
An interesting collection of encores, well worth hearing! Mariss Jansons and the Oslo Philharmonic have been in the international circuit for nearly sixteen years now, and this collection of encores is an interesting addition to their discography. The Oslo Philharmonic is on top form uder their long-time music director. The Elegy, from South Korea is well played and given an atmospheric rendering, although that is due in large part to John Fraser's orchestration. As a matter of fact, when listening to this particular version, one cannot help noting that there is more of Norway than Korea here. However, that is a minor point. All of the pieces are played with Jansons and the OPO's characteristic verve and energy. The selection from Zorba brings the whole to an appropriately energetic conclusion! Bravo!!
