Kids in a clubhouse pass a magic hardhat and--voilà!--they are transported to the worlds of construction and manufacturing. Boulders are blasted, made into asphalt, and pressed into roads. Workers use sand to turn molten metal into boat propellers. Trees become logs, get shredded, then soaked into pulp and transformed into paper. Curbside recyclables are sorted, crushed, and melted to become new bottles. And finally, a worker demonstrates how handcrafted glass is made--all with kid narration ("Whoa! Spin-o-rama!"). While this 26-minute tape races through its 5 subjects, it also takes its young viewers step by step through each process with thorough but easy-to-grasp explanations.
