My 6 year old loves to play chess now
I first bought WonderChess for my 6yr old daughter and now we love it so much, I buy it as birthday presents for other children. <
>The entire concept is very creative, plus the box is nicely designed and very sturdy. <
>We enjoyed the "cheer word" stickers (e.g. "way to go") which come with the kit that you can hide inside the chess pieces. <
>At first we thought the prize area inside the pieces was too small to hold candy, but then found that small treats like Mini M&Ms or TicTacs in the Pawns and jelly beans in the larger pieces worked just fine. Actually, my daughter's favorite treat to use in the pawns is sunflower seeds. As a parent, keeping the treats small and healthy is an advantage. <
>Plus, we vary the prizes by hiding candies or seeds in some pieces and stickers in others so you never know what you'll discover when opening up the piece you've captured. Now my 4-year old daughter (she and I play as a team) loves to win the stickers, which she immediately applies all over her hands and face. <
>I was also impressed by the 10-lesson book - it is complete, wonderfully illustrated, and easy to follow! I didn't remember the various strategies from when I learned to play as a young adult, so the book was a good refresher for me. <
