Customer Reviews of Who Died & Made You King?
Great songwriting, energetic music, amazing harmonies Doubting Thomas' newest CD is a combination of fine songwriting craft, amazing harmonies and an energetic blend of pop/folk. Gina Stewart, Brenda Gambrill and Bill Carrol provide snappy, smart lyrics and some of the best harmonies on record. Mark McCall anchors it all with big drum and percussion chops that remind me of early classic rock and roll. John Keane of Athens, Ga. acted as producer, as he has for REM and Widespread Panic (among others). Production values are excellent.A word of warning, this ain't the Skinny Puppy side project..This Doubting Thomas has been building an enthusiastic audience for years, and this is the third major CD release. Well worth a listen.
Good blend of rock, folk and pop. Very good CD!
I had the pleasure of seeing this band live by chance and thoroughly enjoyed them. This is their latest release and is a real gem. If you are looking for a new up and coming band check these guys out!
A Perfect Record???
Had Doubting Thomas never existed I would not know what to expect from other up and coming bands in the South. However, DT (as they're affectionately called by their devoted fan base) defined the future of Southern Rock. Ironically much of the future was grounded in the history of rock. DT doesn't hesitate to revive gospel, blues, funk and electrified rock and infuse them all into one overwhelmingly powerful performance. This album captures the huge personalities of this ensemble the way that past albums could not. Still, the only way to take in everything this enormously talented group has to offer is to see them live with a Miller Lite, a willingness to sing along and a group of old friends. If you can't bring your old friends, don't worry, DT will have you feeling right at home in no time.
