Customer Reviews of Which Way to the Front
FUNNY STUFF! Jerry Lewis at his best, or close to his best. The German impersonation is hilarious. Watch for Jerry's driver, "Linc" who is really former L.A. Dodgers all-star centerfielder "Willie Davis", who plays a german sergeant in a lot of the movie, if you didn't know Willie Davis is black, and I can't remember too many black German Sergeants in WWII, but makes for some funny hijinks!
This movie really rocks!
hilarious
Although my father and I rarely agree on movies and what we like to watch, this movie has given us years of laugh out loud enjoyment and memories. Every time anyone mentions Jerry Lewis he starts repeating lines from this classic movie and we laugh all over again. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Jerry's work. I am so glad it is finally available on video.
Some Brilliant Moments
"Which Way to the Front" (1970) is an erratic World War II comedy, but it has some classic sequences that feature Jerry Lewis at his best. The Chaplinesque ballet with Jerry and Adolf Hitler is a definite highlight. The film gets off to a shaky start, yet improves as it goes along -- especially when Jerry impersonates a Nazi officer. For all its flaws, this Lewis effort is definitely worth a look.
