Customer Reviews of Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? - Carmen's Revenge
Magnificent show plus excellent episode trilogy. This is arguably my favorite television series of all time and for many different reasons. For one, this is based on an awesome computer game franchise but even when paying no attention to the game series, this show took my world by storm in a way that it still takes me by storm.
The characters are just amazing and some of them have really silly charming names like Carmen's psychotic henchwoman Sara Bellum, or henchmen like Tourise Classe and Lars Vegas. I also love Carmen's character so much. Unlike most criminals who are just heartless murderes or otherwise callous individuals, Carmen hates violence and even saves lives.
In this show Ivy and Zack,a brother and sister ACME detective duo, play a game of cat and mouse and try to catch Carmen Sandiego and stop her criminal escapades and foil her crimes involving world landmarks and solve the crimes with a series of clues that Carmen leaves behind.
However this tape breaks the mold where Carmen Sandiego is the target of a rival criminal named Gunner Maelstrom, a Norwegian criminal whose goal is to give Carmen competition and destroy her reputation as the greatest thief of all time. It turns out that Carmen in fact put him away in 1985 when she was still a detective and now ten years later (1995 in the episodes timeline), Carmen now must work with Zack and Ivy to stop Maelstrom and prevent him from stealing Noah's Ark.
This item is just awesome and the fact that this is Carmen Sandiego alone warrants purchasing this item a hundred times over. The tape however is marred somewhat by lousy transfer and the VHS quality is questionable plus there's a lot of useless trailers for children's shows which I never liked in the first place even as a child myself. This item could really ahve fared better without this crap.
However this episode is great and one of the best episodes in this legendary cartoon show. When it no longered aired, this marked the death knell of cartoons for me as cartoons seamingly went downhill afterwards and I lost interest in them. But hopefully they'll release this whole series on a DVD set and all of the episodes will be available for DVD if it will never air on TV again. There's still hope.
