Customer Reviews of Water: Close Up and Very Personal
Good try - but no budget The idea behind all "Stage Fright Production" video tapes is unique, i.e. no talking, no explanations - very different from the "There Goes a ....." series where all the talking and fooling around gets in the way of the original idea (see their reviews). The idea of no talking, no explanations worked very well in "Stage Fright's" Trains video because trains by their very nature are VERY impressive to kids. The reason it did NOT work in "Water Close up and very Personal" has to do with the fact that Water in itself is not as impressive as Cho Cho trains. In order to make water as impressive as trains involves budget.
I imagine "Stage Fright Productions" video budget can not handle the subject of water. There was only one impressive scene of a water-fall that could capture the imagination of a pre-schooler - but where are scenes of giant rapids, water streaming through turbines in dams, giant waves, mans's facination with water sports? - all these and more were missing from the video tape. There was a failed attempt to involve pre-schoolers with a magical water urn. In short, trains speak for themselves - subjects like water need a strong budget behind them.
