Customer Reviews of WarHawk Bundle with Bluetooth Headset
Unbelievably low quality I want to like this game. <
> <
>The gameplay is balanced, and it's probably as good as any other online game (barring the technical problems I'm having), which is a major bit of praise. However, the content is pathetically tiny when compared against Halo or Resistance or any game I can think of. I same this entire game in about 20 minutes. It's so small. But in that small universe the gameplay is good. The levels have a lot of detail and all the vehicles are well balanced. <

>There are only a few levels. They've made more, but will sell them later (this is obvious from the menu system). There are only a few weapons, and all of them are boring weapons you find in every game. Generic machine gun. Bland pistol. Knife. A rocket launcher. Snore. They will sell more of these weapons later too. The names of the vehicles ("Medium Tank") indicate that more vehicles were made but also will be sold later. Those who tracked the progress of this game know that there were some fascinating components made that we just didn't get. Huge airships launching fighters. A story. Levels. Single player mode. All this is gone, though the game released very late. This is a Playstation 3 game that is smaller than many Playstation 1 games. I downloaded it in about 15 minutes. It's smaller than the Virtua Tennis Demo, it's smaller than that Duck Demo. <

>I would prefer if the expansion pack came after I was bored with a full game instead of me buying a skeleton that I have to pay to clothe... but, it wasn't a big secret and I bought the game despite these issues. This game was reduced to a very small multiplayer mode, and I bought it for that mode. <

>Too bad multiplayer mode barely works either. Sorting through servers is clumsy and counter intuitive. I spent about twenty minutes trying to log into a game just now (which motivated me to review it on amazon... heh talk about being passive aggressive); each sever I tried was at less than half capacity (for example: "4 players in/24 players max"), and each would give me the same false "game full" error. I've looked into it; this is a common error and there is no update solution being discussed. <

>There is a major problem saving "Achievement" type data used to rank players and give badges, etc. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. All service was off for a few hours on September 7, and we were told the game would now work perfectly. Now, it does seem to save my data half the time (when playing ranked servers). It's just random about whether it will work or not. But compounding all my problems is that when they updated the system on the 7th they gave me a ridiculous promotion (I was given one of the highest ranks, though I had only played on a ranked server twice and killed maybe 5 players). Since many games refuse to allow high ranked players, and I already couldn't log into games due to the "game full" error 90% of the time, it's now almost impossible for me to play this game, and I am sick of it. I have many online games and I have never had a problem on any of them, so it's not the PS3 or the network. <

>This is just totally shoddy. A shame too, because it is quite fun to play when it's working. Not a light year ahead or anything. In fact, maybe an inch above the multiplayer mode tacked on to full games with stories. This game isn't as good a value as those even after they fix these problems. <

>They left out a huge amount of content, and what they didn't delete doesn't work. Do not buy this game until it works. Probably closer to Christmas. <

I feel gipped
I don't feel this game is worth the 60 bucks I paid for it. I realize I will be flamed for saying this, as fans (and I am one, just a little disgruntled at the moment) can get a little protective of their console, however just I needed to say this. Heres a list of my complaints:
<
>
<
>1. The controls are awful. I just can't say it any other way. The warhawk over-responds to movements, while vehicles like the tank hardly respond at all. I keep having to try and correct my warhawk in flight, ending up with me flying in a squiggly line before a missile hits me and I blow up. Its kind of pathetic to see, and just leads to great frustration. I also have difficulty driving the tank because it doesn't seem to respond to the motion sensor at all, and I turn in ridiculously wide arcs, and end up smashing into buildings or falling off cliffs. I can understand the programmers wanting to incorporate the motion sensor into the game's controls, however they did a very poor job of it. Other players seem to have gotten the hang of it, judging by their obvious playing skill, however I am simply not willing to spend 10 hours just learning how to properly move around in a game. Its just not fun.

>2. The damage/fighting system needs to be more balanced. ONE missile is all it takes to destroy the warhawk - the games most feared and dreaded weapon. I havent gotten a single kill with the warhawk after a couple days of playing the game, yet ive been blown up in it countless times. Yes - there are countermeasures and neat spins and dives you can do to try and escape a missile, but in order to do this you need to already have a perceptive grasp of the warhawk's controls (refer to my first complaint). I feel they should increase the warhawks armor, make it so a warhawk can just barely survive one missile, so it would be burning, but still flying. Then they would be a little more useful, especially to new players. Ground weapons could use a few tweaks as well. I would like to see the flame thrower do more fire damage, maybe make fire cling to people when they get hit, and do timed damage to them. I tried flaming a bunch of people by swinging its fire stream in an arc, and catching them all at one, and it didnt work. Of course this is nitpicking - just a minor complaint, but wasn't realistic physics a feature of the ps3?

>3. Fans have had issues with other reviews citing a lack of a single player - they say its not fair when they are reviewing a MULTIPLAYER game. Well what about a tutorial? Even a little one-level newbie course explaining movement and different game modes? It wouldn't take much, and would make the game easier on new players. The community is terrible on people who don't know what their doing. The free jabra's included with all the retail boxes just mean theres that much more people swearing at you when you screw up. Im serious.

>I think these three complaints are my major issues with the game, After playing it for a couple days I just couldn't play it anymore without getting more and more frustrated. I deleted the game data, and the game is now sitting on a shelf and is doomed to collect dust. I have a headset though. Headsets are nice.
Great game - almost....
I agree with everything positive people have said about this game. I just want to cover a few annoying things...
<
>First, sometimes it takes me 30-40 mins to join a game - for example, it shows 8 people in with maximum of 12 - but when I try to join - it says the game is full. I wish they would adopt the Resistance model and place people in the game automatically instead of me having to scroll down and look at several hundred games trying to find one that is actually available.
<
>Second, when a person hosting a game decides he/she doesnt wanna play anymore - it ends the game for everybody, and then see above - sometimes I have to spend another 30 mins to find the next game that is not full. Again, when the same thing happens playing Resistance - they just switch to a different server - the game doesn't end for everybody. I like that approach better.
<
>Third, hard to find ranked games - I think in 2 weeks I've only played two of those.
<
>And last but not least - my PS3 started to freeze pretty often - courtesy of Warhawk. I downloaded the latest firmware update, and it helped a lot, but not 100%....
<
>All in all - this is the best PS3 game I've played yet, and I hope they will fix most of the bugs and improve the interface a bit
