Customer Reviews of WWE Hardcore
Hardcore-Big Bumps and Big Shots, Fans check it out One of the WWF's newest home videos is WWF Hardcore and I must say that it is very well done. Tazz is the host of the video so he adds his own insight during the tape. Many WWF Superstars are ask What thy think Hardcore means and what Hardcore is. The tape has highlights of Foley begin awarded the Hardcore Title and becoming the first champion, then Dogg/Snow in the snow, Ivory vs Tori Hardcore Women;s Title match, Cactus Jack vs HHH from RR 2000, Crash Holly and the 24/7 rules and the tape wraps up with highlights of Shane vs Blackman from Summer Slam 2000. If you enjoy Hardcore matches, then get this tape.
pretty weak
hardcore matches are good and this has to be the worst collection of hardcore matches in a long time. Rhyno is'nt on it and he is hardcore, most of the matches consist on al snow vs road dogg or big boss man. most of the matches on the video arent even hardcore matches, you have street fights, no holds barred and tlc matches. The only good thing about this is the streetfight between foley and triple H. That is a fantastic match and worth the whole price it self. If its hardcore your after, your in the wrong federation
Oddball marketing decisions....
As someone stated before in a review, the VHS/DVD versions are quite different from each other. I got this tape when it came out in early 2001. Then I got the DVD later on in 2001. The two versions are actually a tad different then each other. The tape's first match is a slightly clipped match from raw is war with Road Dogg and Al Snow going at it in a somewhat good but slow match that ended outside in the snow. The DVD has the first (offical) hardcore match with Mankind going against Ken Shamrock in a better but less violent and humorous match then the other one.
In place of the Big Bossman/Al Snow match at Summerslam 1999 is the Hardcore battle royal from wrestlemania 2000 which is very clipped but very good. The Big Bossman/Al snow match is also a good one that includes them brawling into a barfull of people (many people in the bar have WWF shirts and hats on so they know the situation) with Road Dogg behind on commentary. It's a good match but no real hardcore stuff.
And as the reviewer also said about the DVD, Tazz is the host of the feature, but on the DVD some of his commentaries are trimmed. I can see why because Tazz didn't do a good job with being a host. No offense to him, but he wasn't good.
The other two matches that are included in the feature are a dissapointing match with Al Snow and Hardcore Holly from St. Valentines Day Massacre (it was a bad PPV to boot) and the poor but shocking hardcore match between Shane O Mac and Steve Blackman from Summerslam 2000. The Al Snow/Holly match is slow, long and never seems to really end, there's no real spots besides them battling into a river at a cold temperature and while this happens, Micheal Cole reminds us briefly about the Road Dogg/Al Snow match that's on the VHS tape. The Summerslam contest is a three on one spotfest that really lacks hardcore wrestling. Besides some spots with a strap, kendo stick and some stop signs. Then Shane does one of the most moronic stunts ever in the WWF... He takes a nice long dive off of the titantron to some kinda crate with an air bag underneath then Blackman climbs about 15 feet down the titantron to deliver an elbow drop. Good bumps, bad match to finish off a somewhat impressive feature.
Besides the matches I meantioned the tape also contains lots of great insights on the essence of hardcore wrestling.
It starts with the question "What is Hardcore?" and shows some insights from some superstars of whom have had some intense matches themselves. Including the Hardy Boys, E and C, Y2J, The Dudley boyz and even Howard Finkle provide some insights on what is Hardcore along with some other superstars.
Then moves to Mick Foley's insights on the definition and how he's maintained the sport of hardcore wrestling with a few Al Snow jokes and some commentaries on brief clips from some of his best matches, EVEN, his old stuff with HBK and the Undertaker back in 1996, along with highlights of the sensational Boiler room brawl and the most brutal (my opinion) WWF hardcore match with Mick wrestling as himself against Terry Funk, it's a highlight match there where Mick dismantles poor Terry for no reason, then his hella violent match with Triple H at Royal Rumble 2000 with also gets a 5 minute highlight section later on in the feature. Then the first time we see the hardcore belt when it was given to Mankind from Vinny Mac. Great stuff.
While all of the superstars provide commentary it jumps back and fourth with some sped up clips of some brutal highlights and violence from the WWF.
Also the question, "Who is Hardcore?" which is a another nice highlight reel with some superstars opinions on some hardcore wrestlers and what they've done.
Then goes to a slow and utterly boring womens hardcore match that is totally demeaning against women and isn't hardcore at all until a gratatious stunt at the end.
Then on with "Most Hardcore injury" in which some superstars give details on some painful injuries (no real footage included). Mick Foley's been through some 300+ stiches and lots more. Then with a filler 3 minutes gives some more insight on how Hardcore holly broke his arm when Kurt Angle moonsaulted him. Y2J gives some good details only for Tazz our host too make fun of.
Then the heavily clipped streetfight from Royal Rumble 2000 with Cactus Jack and Triple H going at it in a brutal and bloody match that is very hard to watch within the first watch.
Then the stupid 24/7 rule highlight with Crash (RIP). A few funny moments but this 24/7 crap ruined what the hardcore title was and what hardcore wreslting was.
Then on with my favorite insight of the feature called "Most hardcore memory" that goes into some great, great moments with the first TLC match from Summerslam 2000, the falls count anywhere match with Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie from 1997. Y2J's Last man Standing/NO hold Barred contests with Kane and Triple H. Mankind and his HIAC match from KOTR 1998. Then a flashback to Superfly Jimmy Snuka's cage dive and the boot camp match from 1981 with Pat Patterson and Sgt. Slaghter which looks really bloody and very disturbing. Then an APA highlight of their old bar brawls and moments. Just filler there really.
The DVD of this feature contains about 20 extra matches. Most are pretty run and entertaining, it's worth it just to get those matcheson the DVD.
All in all, it's a good comp with some bad to worse filler matches on the feature but great insights on Hardcore and it really is worth your money. The tape is mainly 30% filler and 70% good stuff. But in the end we're treated to some quality moments and matches.
