Davis Vantage Pro produces false readings.
The Davis Vantage Pro will produce false readings when using a frequency hopping 900 MHz telephone such as the AT&T 9400 (a great phone) nearby. It will typically display and record, if you are using the Davis Data Logger Module, 157 MPH wind velocity when using this AT&T phone. This suggests that Davis is not using a strong enough data integrity mechanism in the data packets sent by the remote instrument package and sufficient error checking in the base unit. Repeated requests to Davis to fix this fell on deaf ears. I even offered to help their engineers to test fixes but they were not interested. I have to constantly edit the data collected to manually remove the bad data. It is a real pain. It is also possible that other bad data values are getting through but I may not recognize them. The 157 MPH wind is easy to spot. If you use the popular 900 MHz telephones then you may want to consider another vendor.
