Customer Reviews of Volo Stroller - Marigold
Wheel Question I love this stroller as well. I bought it for my eight month old as we travel alot and wanted a compact stroller. Our regular stroller is the Graco Metrolight, so I wanted something just as lightweight. This stroller was the best and lightest. I did not intend to spend that much on an umbrella stroller, but this one was clearly the best choice because of the carrying strap, the weight, and the EXTREMELY well designed folding mechanism. I only have one problem and would appreciate any feedback from others who have purchased the VOLO. The swivel wheels do not lock! Even if you get them to lock, they release as soon as you start to push the stroller! I went back to [my local baby store] and was assisted in opening three other boxes with brand new strollers in them and they ALL had the same problem. I have even contacted Maclaren and am waiting for a response. I will probably keep this stroller no matter what, but I feel like for the price, all of the features should work.
wonderful stroller-a must have
My son is now 2 years old and as much as I love our other stroller, Graco Metrolite, it was time to get an umbrella stroller for everyday errands and air travel. I researched the Maclaren a great deal, and found that it is well worth the price. Although it was time to put away the Metrolite, I was still not ready to give up the storage basket. The Volo gives me the ease of portability and a little storage as well. The carrying handle is also a great feature, as well as the 5 point harness. I also love the height of the handles and their ergonomic features (handles curve inward). I know other umbrella strollers are out there with a much lower price tag, but quality is lacking. I highly recommend the Volo by Maclaren, you'll wonder what you ever did without it. I must comment on the review that said the denim blue was much too feminine, the blue is a wonderful shade, there is nothing girlie about it. And for that matter nothing macho about it. It is simply blue, and more importantly a high quality safety item for your child.
why do people like this stroller so much?
We bought this stroller based on the glowing recommendations found here, but have been disappointed. This umbrella stroller is engineered much like another British product; the Jaguar. Nice looking and pricey, but not incredibly functional. The wheel locking mechanism cannot be engaged/disengaged without using both hands while other, far cheaper, strollers allow you to lock and unlock the wheels with one foot. Even when locked, the wheels sometimes slip! The storage basket below the seat is so small that if there's anything in it, even something as small as a baby bottle, the stroller won't fold up and latch. To fold up the stroller, you need to pull a lever and give the hinge a push; this is clumsy and again, requires both hands. The latch is also pretty flimsy. To unfold the stroller, you can open it easily but need to push a small tab to lock it in the open position, and it's darn near impossible to do this with your foot because the tab is so small. It's not all bad and they did a number of things right. The arms are extra long, making it easy to push even if you're tall. The handles also angle, making it comfortable to push. It's lightweight and steers well. The 5-point seatbelt is harder to get the baby into, but it's very secure and nicely adjustable. The latch is very stiff though, and almost impossible to unlock with one hand. We also bought the add-on sun shield, and this is the worst piece of the whole thing. Every time we fold up the stroller, the sun shield falls off and has to be re-attached when we open it. So in summary, it's a solid stroller but for the money, I was hoping for some nicer design details.
