Customer Reviews of Victory
Terrible I can now understand why Michael Jackson actually sang 95% of all the vocals on the Jackson 5 and Jacksons records. The brothers just cannot sing AT ALL with the exception of a few ballads over the years by brother Jermaine. I mean, it's like they're not even from the same family. Randy has to be the worst with Marlon not at all far behind him. The best song on the album is of course, State of Shock. This is an interesting song and is the main reason I purchased the cd. Michael's other contribution, Be Not Always is unfortunately horrendous. His repetition of the word "always" drove me bonkers and his voice sounds terribly wimpy and childish. Torture is terrible but it has a certain appeal as maybe a song you'd work out to. The rhythm reminds me of those half hour excersise shows that came on PBS during the mid-80's, this song would be perfect for the something like that. All-in-all, not a good CD but if you are like someone else stated a hardcore Jackson fan you may want to purchase this for State of Shock like I did.
Torture
It was torture to my ears...but I liked the way Jermaine got to lead for a change, he is my favourite Jackson by far - Gill
More ass-kickers from the Jackson 6!
Michael Jackson was still collecting Grammys for his THRILLER album in 1984 when this album was released. His brother Jermaine put out his self-titled album and the six Jackson brothers released this album. Sadly,Michael had an accident before the brothers went on tour to promote this album. His hair caught fire while filming a TV commercial for Pepsi-Cola. He was not badly hurt, thank the Lord! It was only a decade earlier this brother act was still the Jackson 5(the youngest brother Randy was not a member). Now for the songs:TORTURE,BODY and STATE OF SHOCK were all hits. The latter featured moral support from Rolling Stone Mick Jagger. Jermaine's solo career was going strong in '84(it began around 1979). The Jacksons' sister Janet of TV's "Good Times" fame began a singing career herself in the early 80's. Respectively, she and Michael were "taking CONTROL and being BAD"! Five years after this album,2300 JACKSON STREET was released. That album was recorded minus Michael. Michael, enjoying abundant success on his own, chose not to join his brothers in the making. Despite that, the group remained as The Jacksons.
