Customer Reviews of Victory 5 Comfort Touch Car Seat with LATCH - Sanibel
Roomy and comfortable Too many complaints about the straps. Just read the instructions, and practice. It's not as easy as my infant seat, but the 5-point harness holds my girl more secure. The straps can twist, but once you know what direction the inserts fit into the buckle it's no trouble to keep things straight. Strap adjustment is still accessable when rear-facing with a short lead of webbing attached to the release mechanism. Good thinking. If it's too tight, I can pull more slack. This should never pinch your child's legs. I like the recline adjuster, although I can't use it until it's forward facing (only the fully recline position should be used for rear facing). Many "two-position" seats just sit on a different part of their angled base. Not good. As others have mentioned, the cushioning is great and it has a high back for future growth. The size might be a problem for smaller vehicles. Highly recommended, especially when compared to the overpriced alternatives. Show your baby the love for under $100.
Crotch Strap Way Too Tight
Before purchasing this car seat, I did all the research and read the reviews that indicated the crotch strap was too short and not good for bigger babies. Having a petite, 16 lb one year old, I figured maybe this seat would be okay since the other babies in the reviews I read were bigger. I wanted to get an Evenflo because of the ratings, and my 3 year old has an Evenflo (Medallion) and sleeps in it all the time. This particular seat was cushy and seemed very comfortable compared to the other seats out there. Thankfully, before I bothered to install the car seat, I sat my one year old in it, adjusted the straps, and snapped the buckle. Although I was conscientiously trying to be careful buckling the crotch strap, I must have pinched her because she started wailing. The crotch strap is just too short, I have no idea how a child can fit their legs through the opening. And this is summer, I couldn't imagine trying to squeeze her and her snowsuit into that little opening and trying to snap the buckle way down between her legs. Needless to say, I didn't even own this car seat for 24 hours and have already returned it. I've currently purchased the Triumph 5 - not as cushy, easy to use and install, however, I'm not liking the reviews on the car seat cover falling apart in the wash. I noticed that the sample they had in the store had rips in it. I mentioned it to the customer service rep at Evenflo (when I had to call to find out where the instructions were hidden) and she said "we haven't gotten any complaints about the car seat covers". I'll review it after a couple days in the appropriate section. For now, I wouldn't recommend this car seat for bigger children since the space for their legs is impossibly small! (I don't know if you noticed, but this seems to be the new fad since most car seats have this "feature".)
Not bad considering the price
I just bought this carseat as an extra for my husband's car( 03 Tahoe) and had no problems installing it. We installed it in the parking lot of Toys R US and we adjusted the straps to fit our 17 month old 20 lb daughter in it with no probs.. The only complaint I had was I didn't really like the way the straps sat on her legs but they didn't cut off her circulation and there was no crying so I guess they are ok.. I think for the money this is a good carseat and I will NOT be returning it tomorrow!
