Customer Reviews of VeggieTales - King George and the Ducky
This is a good movie My kids love veggietales. We own them, the libary owns them, they show them at the church during Sunday School. THere was even one little boy that was afraid of the movie about the rumor weed, so he'd hide in the nursery and look through the grate in the door (and watch the movie through the grate!)
This a cute, great, funny movie for kids.
Laugh out loud and a moral, too
I just adore the Veggie Tales tapes. These guys have the same simple-minded humor I enjoyed and engaged in as a teenager. It's like never leaving college. This episode with the ducky is one of the best, and a very interesting way to introduce the story of David and Bathsheba to kids (definitely without the sex part). This time King George (aka David) covets his neighbor's Ducky (not his wife). Catchy songs, funny plot, all in all, a great time. I also laughed out loud with the "low-budget" skit done by the Squash at the beginning. Oh, my 27-month-old likes Veggie Tales, too...especially the Ducky.
Show starts off too slow!
The story of King George and the Ducky really is a great story and is entertaining. The silly song Endangered Love is one of my all time favorites; HOWEVER -
The video starts with Jerry and Jimmy Gourd pretending to be Bob and Larry (wearing cardboard cutouts to look like them). They introduce they're own little goofy skit about selfishness. This part of the video is cute and mildy funny, but it just falls flat after a while - which I guess it was the intent since the Gourds simply cannot replace Bob and Larry.
I'm am not saying that this video is bad. It has good qualities. You just may find that very young children may lose their attention after the first few minutes.
