Customer Reviews of Uriah Heep Live
The classic live album from a legendary band Uriah Heep Live. Those three words say it all, and if you're a fan of the band, this is without saying a must have. Four LP sides of material (that's about seventy minutes for you children of the CD age) from the classic first five albums, plus a medley of 50's rockers as a bonus encore. Full of atmosphere and panache, this album is ideal listening for a get-together chill session in your basement. This album is what the seventies concert going experience, and the best of seventies hard progressive rock, was all about. And it features "Circle of Hands", probably the greatest live song ever done by anyone! If you are new to the band, this serves as a good introduction not only because of the song selection but primarily because the book contains some information about the band's history and the members at that time.
Great Classic Live Set
This is by far one of the best live albums of its day, alongside Made In Japan. This concert displays the original band at its height, with the gorgeous vocals of the late David Byron, who is masterful on July Morning. The band opens up with Sunrise (recently added to their set list after thirty years!), a telling song that builds with power. We sail into Sweet Lorraine, a wonderful 'Rock and Roller that you can stand up and Boogie to', as Byron tells the crowd. Traveller in Time is next, a hard-rocker that segues into the band's most popular tune, Easy Livin. These four songs are performed much as they are on the album, as Uriah Heep keeps to the faith of the songs (and proabably didn't really know how to improvise on stage, as is evident as to the tightness of the songs played in this set). Gypsy is played in its entirety, including the now left out instrumental intro, and a keyboard and drum solo is added. Tears in my Eyes displays Ken Hensley with a nice slide guitar solo. This is a classic rock album by one of the longest lasting bands in rock and roll history. Heep must've been a glory to see live at this time in their carrer...long live the memories of David Byron and Gary Thain. Long Live Heep!!
One quintessential album in rock culture any age
Uriah Heep signed his name for the mytholgy rock. The whole ensemble worked out to dyonisiac levels.
In the ancient sixties , a legendary band , Vanilla Fudge introduced innovative concepts in the rock. And it's not dangerous establish the heavy rock sound was born with this band. Uriah Heep hold this conceptual approach that in certain ways was forgotten in those years.
Uriah Heep developed a difficult but instead worthy effort , which meant mix hard rock sound with long phrases. that clever device allows you to whistle and remind the locus of the theme in your mind. This smart device carried to this legendary recital in July 1973.
And it's a pitty for all we weren't lucky viewers of that unforgettable session, it seems, that there were no video recordings in this opportunity, but at least the sound is available in a well made transfer.
July morning became in a cult theme for a whole young generation in that time.
Sweet Lorraine sound is OK, but Gipsy queen and Look at yourself are extraordinary pieces, filled with that special wildness demanded in the deep of all immortal rock piece. Watch for Born to be wild, Paranoid or Stargazer for instance.
This is an album that became from its release in a must reference for the rock memories.
A landmark in the rock culture.
