Customer Reviews of United 93 (Widescreen Edition)
Better have the kleenex nearby! This movie was very well done, in taste and class. Very respectful to the families. It's a flashback of when I turned on the news and sat there in absolute shock when the trade center was hit. I think most people remembered 9/11 as being when the twin towers went down and not so much the flight 93 whose passengers and crew saved God knows how many people by re-directing the plane. Kudos for the downgraded "Hollywood" portrayal also. The most touching addition to this movie is the bonus feature where the castmembers meet the families of the person they played. I got pretty choked up watching that. <

>I definitely recommend everyone at least see this movie. The people on that plane deserve that much from us.
a grave destiny
Because this is such a sensitive subject matter, and because all involved in the project stated that the story would be portrayed with dignity, one tends to scrutinize every scene for signs of melodrama and inaccuracies. I watched FLIGHT 93 first (a couple of months ago), and was VERY impressed with what they did and how events were portrayed in that A&E movie. To tell you the truth, certain details were explained much BETTER in that movie than in this one.Just shows you a story can be told successfully in more than one way! But there were some moments in the TV-movie where I felt they veered very close to cheap sentimentality, especially when Titanic-esk panpipes could be heard on the soundtrack. UNITED 93 uses very little music, which I appreciated .I found UNITED 93 just as engrossing and ultimately more sad than FLIGHT 93. My only reference to a situation remotely like this was when we flew through a storm once and I remember how quiet it was. No one said a word and we all stared at each other with pale faces and wide eyes.

> I would recommend watching both movies (not on the same day!) as that will paint the full picture of what happened that terrible morning in 2001. Also, the extras on the UNITED 93 dvd are great, with insightful commentary by Paul Greengrass and a very emotional documentary about the families meeting the castmembers. Not a dry eye in my house. Ultimately we have to admit that while we watch UNITED 93, we constantly place ourselves in the situation of those passengers and wonder how WE would have reacted and acted, had that grave destiny been ours.
Accurate portrayal?
My husband and I rented and watched United 93 last night.

> Since when do Muslims say God? They always say Allah. They also portrayed one of the terrorists as unsure of doing whatever.
<
>Totally confused.
<
>However, the bonus features show some touching moments with the actors and the families which they were playing the son, wife, daughter.
