Ever since the first flying saucers were spotted over Mount Rainier in 1947, they have captivated the world and caused much speculation. Interplanetary craft? Weather balloons? Advanced military aircraft? Swamp gas? Whatever, we have been puzzling for over 50 years with no end in sight. UFOs: 50 Years of Denial? makes the case for world governments' collusion to hide evidence of extraterrestrials from the public for reasons of security. Ufology bigwigs such as Bob Dean and Phil Corso discuss what they learned in their roles in NATO and the National Security Council, respectively; astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell tells of his discussions with government officials who want to come clean; and many saucer-spotters tell their bizarre stories. Some very strange photographic evidence and footage taken near the fabled Area 51 in Nevada are suggestive, but of course inconclusive. And who was that mysterious cigarette-smoking man lurking in the background? --Rob Lightner

Customer Reviews of Ufos-50 Years of Denial
Best introduction to the subject There are a ton of UFO documentaries out there. This one tells it straight on in good chronological order and gets to the issues. You want Marcel, you got him. You want Corso, you got him. Its the military guys who kept their mouths shut until they knew they were gonna die that ya gotta listen to. And they said a mouthful [read Corso's "The Day After Roswell", eg.] They were there for cripes sake! And then there is Edgar Mitchell, a guy who actually set foot on another world! and he's convinced extraterrestrial intelligences are visiting our planetary system. [Which, of course, puts a rather ironic spin on the idea of we humans thinking of this Earth as "ours", or given to "us" to inhabit. (Its all "too beautiful" here in "Itchycoo Park" ain't it?)]
The UFO as a topic of "public" attention is nonexistent. Perhaps if PBS or the BBC or CBS etc, aired this documentary in prime time people might begin to wonder. But that, as we know, is verbotten (sic).
