Rattle and Hum is not a film for anyone looking for an introduction to Irish band U2's career in the 1980s, but it is a vibrant portrait of an established group making its musical pilgrimage through the America it has always imagined through blues, gospel, and early rock 'n' roll. Filmmaker Phil Joanou (Heaven's Prisoners), a veteran music-video director and maker of the distractingly kinetic Three O'Clock High, finds a suitable outlet for his high energy in this juggernaut of a journey, which finds U2 collaborating with a black gospel choir and B.B. King, recording inside the legendary Sun Records studio, dropping by Graceland, and in a moment of fearlessness, performing the Beatles' "Helter Skelter" to exorcise Charles Manson's sick claim on the song. --Tom Keogh

Video Quality is LOUSY!!
The video is awful! Grainy, and dark. Blu Ray ought to be about pristine HiDef video, but this disc looks worse than most standard def DVDs. Although the audio quality is reasonably good, it should be PCM lossless instead of DTS 6.1. After all, the whole point of buying this disc in Blu Ray format is about superior sound quality and video quality. Neither were particularly impressive to me. I guess die hard U2 fans will happily shell out for the BD version, but I wish I had passed on this one. Oh well, hopefully Bon will use his cut for a worthwhile cause!

U2 at it's best pre-mega pop show up!
Good film showing the Joshua Tree tour around USA and The Rattle & Hum recording sessions. Magnificent visual performing of Where the Streets Have No Name, With or Withuot U also it's great. U2 were some kind folky peasants riding the way out to mega success and global recognition stablishing their social/politic points of view while writing some of the best 80's rock songs. It's sorrow that have not included New Year's Day and Hawkmoon 269 on the sound track that are personal faves. I just buy it at a very low price promotion. Good Stuff!
