Customer Reviews of Typing Instructor For Kids - Version II [Old Version]
My nine year old is teaching herself to type My nine year old daughter wanted to learn to type. I read the reviews of the available products and purchased this one. It was the right choice. <

>She is enjoying working her way through the games, improving both her accuracy and speed as she goes. This game, er, instructional program gives immediate feedback on both. She is very excited when she beats her previous score. <

>This seems like a better way to learn typing than the class I went to in high school in the 1970's. Back then, we had to listen for the bell to tell us when to hit the return bar. Now our kids can learn with fun games anytime they want, no bell and no return bar. No messy ribbon either!
Stereotypes and insensitivity
I was shocked to see the stereotypes in this program. Teepees in the Old West, Talking Tiki Heads with phoney and innaccurate accents... Put this on your DO NOT BUY list.
so far, so good
My sons, ages 12 & 10, are using this product. I am forcing them!! It keeps their interest for about 30 minutes, after that it becomes 'work' for them and a little 'kiddish'. BUT, the basics are solid and presented as best a tutorial can. You have to supervise and watch them as they use the program. Like all typing programs , it is only as good as you practice it and let it be. You have to watch to see they are not peeking at the keys and using the proper fingers.
