Customer Reviews of Trials of Life: Fighting
Trials of Life: Fighting This documentary is 50 minutes long, hosted by David Attenborugh. My favorite animal fighting in this video is the hippos. Watch as they make these gigantic splashes! It's incredible. I have the complete collection of "Trials of Live", and this is one of my favorite videos in the series. I also like when the bull moose fight with their huge antlers. Do you think this is one of your favorite Trials of Life videos? And those hippos have those huge teeth, almost as big as our little lamp on a table in a corner!
The Beauty of Fighting and Survival
It may be a strange comment to say fighting is beautiful but when you see animals fighting for survival they do have an aesthetics all their own. Narrator David Attenbourough presents those aesthetics wonderfully as he shows various species in combat. Everything from sea erchants to zebras fights over territory, food and mating. It is interesting to note that when these animals fight rarely kill each other. Fighting is just a means to insure their survival. Humans can learn where they get their aggressive tendencies. We can also learn how what is important for the survival of our animal cousins (aggression and fighting) is now threat to our survival. The Trials of Life Series are both very informative as well as entertaining. I was first introduced to them in college where the series was required viewing in my class (Animal Behavior) at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts. The series taught me as much about animal behavior as the class itself. And David Attenbourough (who is related to famed Director and Actor Sir Richard Attenbourough) was as good as a teacher as my professor. In many ways I compare his ability to teach about animals as I do DR. Carl Sagan's to teach about the Cosmos. Whether you are into biology nature or not you should see this series just for the awareness it brings out in our fellow creatures.
