Customer Reviews of Trend High Chair - Malawi
Safety Issue The manufacture's site states that the tray can be removed so that the chair can be pushed up to a dining room table. My wife and I tried this configuration this evening. Within 5 minutes, my seven month old daughter had managed to get her arm wedged in the two inch gap between the plastic arms where the tray attaches to the chair and the legs of the chair. Had she jerked or twisted the wrong way, we would have been in the emergency room this evening. <

>My wife spent over 40 minutes on the phone with manufacture describing the problem and requesting a warning be offered about using the high chair without the tray. The response was to roll up towels and place them in the gap. It seemed that this was a rehearsed response and the manufacture indeed knows about the problem. Where is the warning? <

the best i found out there
overall, this highchair is pretty good. The extra fabric seat worked well and also positioned her better in the chair. (She is small and the extra padding allowed her to see over the top of the chair.) I also liked the extra tray. It's nice to have a clean tray while one is in the dishwasher. The only problem that i had with it the first time that i washed the padded seat, the seam on the top split open a little. (I washed it on delicate too.)
Great at first but soon to break--POOR customer service
I bought this chair for our second child after seeing the great reviews that it had. It seemed wonderful at first--all the features that you want--easy recline, two chair inserts, two trays, easy to fold BUT after using it a month it started to go downhill. The seat belt is a five point BUT BEWARE it is joined by metal "O" shaped clasps that rip the seatbelt and make it hard to adjust and then finally it broke entirely. Next, the tray did fine in the tightest position but when we were ready to move it out a little it wouldn't stay put. MAJOR PROBLEM--we now have a one year old with a broken seat belt and a tray that he can push right off. I called the company and they would NOT replace the high chair. They wanted to keep sending me parts without knowing for sure what would fix it. I was not going to jeopordize the safety of my child until they found the fix. In addition, they wanted me to take pictures of the chair and send them to them??? A lot of my time when they were willing to do very LITTLE to insure the safety of my child and the satisfaction of their product. Get rid of this highchair before you need the seatbelt because it will break (we returned two due to this problem). The problem is that a lot of people buy highchairs before their babies are born or early on, when you don't need the seatbelt and by the time it is needed and doesn't work it is too late to return so BEWARE!!I have since bought the Polly by Chicco. . .a litte more money, but well worth it. The seat belt is wonderful in this one and it has all the same great features and is even a slimmer fold!
