Game Storyline
Sure, we've all imagined what it would be like to become a doctor. Years of medical school, residency, and clinic duty eventually pay off in a rewarding position saving people's lives. Or, you could skip all that and just put in a few hours after dinner. Trauma Center puts you in the position of having to make life or death choices at the operating table.
Heart surgery and tumor removal might look easy from the morphine end, but how do you think the doctor feels? Well, you're going to find out! In Trauma Center, patients' lives are in your hands. You'll experience all the drama we've come to expect from the medical field. So go ahead, toss on some scrubs and step into the O.R.--it's time to play doctor.

Customer Reviews of Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Good game, horrible soap opera Good game that makes unique use of the Wii. As far as gameplay goes, it only has a couple of minor flaws: <
> <
>- You can really screw up an operation and still get a C grade, and not kill the person. Use a laser randomly all over their innards, forget to disinfect things, use a scalpel on whatever you want, it doesn't matter. No matter what you do, you can't kill somebody. It's too idiot proof. <
>- The dialogue is like they went through a book and looked for random medical terms that make no sense at all when used in conjunction with each other (Better cut out that benign growth before it metastasizes and becomes malignant. Just don't forget to drain the cytoplasm first. Huh?) <
>- Between sections you have to watch the anime soap opera with the sickening plot that is supposed to support it. Just let me play the game. Please don't make me watch a poorly written dramady in order to do so. <

Lame
I have a medical background, so I was excited when I saw the game. However, after 5 minutes of reading dialog about the history of the hospital and 5 minutes of reading what the nurse thought, the actual first surgery was a let down. It was difficult to use the remotes for this game and the forceps did not work well to remove glass from the wound. The style was Japanese anime with lots of reading dialog (no talking). The surgeries were lame. There are much better medical games for the PC.
Great game but not for everyone
First of all, this game is VERY unique and I love that about it. However, lots of people will hate that because they only like what they consider "tried and true." If you're willing to broaden your horizons and learn something pretty new, I would recommend giving this one a try. There are 3 skills that this game relies on, and without all 3 you will never do well at it. They are speed, precision, and the ability to remember and follow procedure. These are, of course, the most important skills for a real surgeon to have, but that is the only way in which this game bears resemblance to reality. Do not expect to learn anything from this game because if you do, it's probably false anyway.

<
>The cons: Graphics fall short, even during the surgery. Way too much ridiculous and uninteresting "plot," but you can skip it so it's not a big deal. Animations are replaced with funny anime still shots so the characters never actually move. People who are lacking in any of the 3 skills I mentioned will just get frustrated and probably give up long before the game is finished.

>But I did not get this game for the story line and the animations... I got this game because it's something different from what we are used to and it becomes a lot of fun to play when you get it down. It's also a trip to watch... injecting self-replicating tumors with seemingly magical anti-inflammatory, cutting them out with your scalpel, removing them and placing them in the tray with your forceps, draining the blood from the area, patching up the big hole you just left in your patient's lung... AWESOME!
