Customer Reviews of Transworld Surf - Hit & Run
A Surfing Lesson ! Let's just comment about the surfing manouvers we have in this DVD. If you want a Surfing DVD to improve on your surfing performance, this is a very good option (deserves 5 stars for that). Just play the slow motion, keep it all in your mind and try to repeat it in the water. You will be a top 10. It also gives you a good opportunity to compare the best surfers at once. Watching the differences between there surfing style is another way to improve in this religion-sport-way of life ...
Dissapointed
I was a little dissapointed by this movie. As surfing has evolved in the last 30 - 40 years so I expected surf movies to evolve as well. I see this is not true, most of the current movies stick to the same adranlin-pumping music with dudes doing aerials formula. The music is all grunge surf music which I can't stand (I hit the muting button and put my own music on). The surfing is good (these are the latest stars after all) but nothing spectacular.
As I said of Loose Change, I was expecting more artistic and slow motion shots. There are none in this movie. There is actually very little creativity from the producers/directors. The camera work is just straight forward, nothing else. Speaking of Loose Change, this is basically the same movie as that on but without the sketches. I don't think there's a need to buy both (unfortunately I did), if you've seen one, you've seen them both.
Now, if you want the best surf movie of the last 30 years run to get a copy of September Sessions. It is really extraordinary. Rob Machado does some of the best, more soulful surfing I've seen in my life.
5 stars minus one for the stupid skits before the surf
Great movie. Moves well. Good extras. Wipeouts were action packed for once. Slater and Machado were at their best in some interesting places. Music was awesome. Your usual Blink and Jack Johnson beats, but well placed with the surfers. Oh yeah, just watch it for the music and sites, the skits were pretty bad.
