Customer Reviews of Transplants
Truly Amazing! The reason that I was first drawn to this cd is because TIm Armstrong is in it. He is from my favorite band, Rancid, so I quickly ran to the store to buy this cd. I was not dissapointed at all! Each song almost became better than the last one! Some punk, some metal, some rap, and other styles! The drumming in this cd is amazing! That's because Blink 182's Travis Barker drums. Rob Aston, a rapper, is in the band too. He's alright. Now, I will give a small review of each song:
1. RHOMPER STOMPER: 8/10 I can see this as a nice metal song to mosh to. Very heavy!
2. TALL CANS IN THE AIR: 10/10 My second favorite song on the cd. Punk/rappish feel to it.
3. DJ DJ: 8/10 Good rock song, with an awesome guitar.
4. DIAMONDS AND GUNS: 9/10 Sweet song! Nice piano and rock feel.
5. QUICK DEATH: 9/10 A good heavy metal song, with AFI's lead singer in it!
6. SAD BUT TRUE: 10/10 Awesome punk song with great bass playing!.
7. WEIGH ON MY MIND: 9/10 Slow punk/rock song with vocals from Brodi Armstrong of The Distillers
8. ONE SEVENTEEN: 10/10 BEST song on the cd! Punk rock! WOW!
9. CALIFORNIA BABYLON: 10/10 Awesome song, with a ska feeling.
10. WE TRUSTED YOU: 8/10 Alright, nice lyrics, lots of cussing!
11. DREAM: 3/10 The only song on the cd i HATE. it's too much rap.
12. DOWN IN OAKLAND: 9/10 Great rock song, weird begging sound.
Well, there you have it! It's a great cd for punk, rock, or rap fans. GO BUY IT!!!
A change of pace for me, and a good one at that.
Tim Armstrong working with blink 182's drummer to make a hybrid of punk, hip-hop, and reggae? How can this work? Well it does, and it works very well.
To add to his arsenal of unique sound he invites friends such as davey havok of AFI and brody armstrong of the distillers to add there touch to this album. As the other reviewers have said though, don't expect the usual Rancid or hellcat records type material because this is in a category of its own. Armstrong explores reggae vocals in tracks such as 'tall cans in the air", and Rob Aston adds his screaming to the mix, which is the only real flaw in the record. Aston's yelling vocals can be a little overdone sometimes, and some of the lyrics made me laugh a bit with all the typical lyrics of a rap song. But then theres other songs that have well written lyrics about loss, redemption, and just that feeling of a sharpened knife placed in your back, which is something we all can relate to. But perhaps the biggest draw of this release is its diversity between songs. You have party songs, darker more in your face songs, reggae dance hall type stuff, and even a track that is a more hardcore rap song then anything else.
So who would i recommend this cd too? well anyone really. it combines so many different styles of music that i'm sure u could find something that appeals to you. So basically when you get a hold of 14 bucks, i would get this cd. I was pleasantly suprised with it, and i'm sure you will be as well.
They Rock!!!!!!!!

This Side project combines a Punk sound, Metal riffs, rap beats,a little bit of retro, hard core yelling,DJs,Some Rapping, And some good old fashion rock. This cd is something you would never expect.
