basic nursing knowledge... Leininger in her Introduction and this is exactly what the book offers: In five sections Leininger presents the history, basic concepts and principles of transcultural nursing (section I), different types of health practices (section II), a number of specific Western and non-Western cultures (section III), a focus on teaching (section IV) and an outlook on the future of transcultural nursing (section V). It is important to learn and know about all those aspects to fully understand Leiningers theory. For me it was also quite helpful to know other nursing theories/models such as Peplau, Neumann or Orem to reflect Leiningers ideas in the practical field. But still, I think, transcultural nursing as it is presented by M. Leininger should be basic knowledge for all nurses worldwide!
