Customer Reviews of Tramaine Hawkins Live
'TRAMAINE HAWKINS LIVE' PROVES TRAMAINE'S STILL ON TOP! On May 6th,1990, certified Gospel Diva, Tramaine Hawkins recorded her first live album. With same passion and poise as her earlier albums, 'Tramaine,' 'Determined,' and others, Tramaine presents her audiences with a new flare and style all her own. Recorded live at the Calvin Simmons Theater in Tramaine's hometown of Oakland, California. Tramaine's first live recording features 7 new songs. And, to my surprise, a 'Tramaine Medley,' featuring some of her earlier chart-toppers such as 'Holy One,' 'Goin' Up Yonder,' and 'Changed.' Tramaine's performance on this album is anointed, Spirit-filled, and down right awesome! Flanked by fellow Gospel Music legends Walter Hawkins, Edwin Hawkins, and Daryl Coley. Tramaine and Walter brought the house down on the emotional 'The Potter's House.' Other stand-out numbers are 'Cheer Up,' written for Tramaine by her son Walter 'Jamie' Hawkins,Jr., the poignant 'Who Is He,' and her grand finale, 'Praise The Name Of Jesus,' written for Tramaine by Gospel artist Rev.Calvin Bernard Rhone. This event was a not to be missed! Tramaine was introduced by Rev.Jesse Jackson and another Gospel legend, Richard Smallwood was spotted in the audience. Also, joining Tramaine was her family, her parents Roland & Lois Davis, her brother, Chris Davis, grandparents Bishop & Mrs.E.E.Cleveland, pastor of Tramaine's home church Ephesian COGIC, her children Jamie and Trystan joined her on stage, and her aunt and pastor, the world-renowned Dr.Ernestine Cleveland-Rheems. Accompaning Tramaine on stage were also long-time friend Carlos Santana, Jimmy McGriff, and Stanley Turrentine. Tramaine was backed by The Willie Small Singers, and a 60-voiced choir. The choir consisted of members from: Edwin Hawkins Bay Area Chapter Singers, Love Center Young Adult Choir, and the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. Tramaine Hawkins was awarded a Grammy Award for this much desrving album. Congratulations, Tramaine! -Christopher L.Hughes END
