With an overhead isometric view and its use of only four buttons, Hawk vets will need to readjust their attacks. Still, we were amazed by how many tricks have been crammed into this cartridge. For the most part, the visuals are clear and detailed and the skaters are incredibly well animated.
Gameplay hasn't changed much. Initially, there are six levels available (more are unlocked as rewards). After picking a skater, you must perform tricks and locate items to earn loot for buying new gear, which will enable you to improve your skater's stats and continue to the next skate park. The game is sadly without some of the cooler features of the big consoles. For example, you cannot create parks or skaters, and multiplay is sorely missed.
The feeling of accomplishment one gets when perfectly landing a stunt is just as satisfying on the GBA as it is on the PS One and Dreamcast versions. Even folks who don't like skateboarding games will think Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is a great (and addictive) achievement for the handheld platform. --Mark Brooks
Pros:
- Incredibly fluid and detailed graphics
- Responsive controls
- Many, many tricks
- Somewhat steep learning curve for all gamers, even Tony Hawk vets
- Missing features of older versions, such as player and park creation
- No multiplayer feature

Customer Reviews of Tony Hawk 2
It's a great game, but its got a few flaws Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (THPS2) for Game Boy Advanced is a GREAT game. It has fluid animation, great graphics, and the controls are easy to understand. I've played THPS on the PlayStation and the Nintendo 64, and THPS2 on the PlayStation, Dreamcast, the PC, and now the GameBoy Advanced.
There are a few problems, the isometric view makes it a little bit harder to judge distances. The sound, while not that bad, sounded a bit fuzzy. But thats all. A great game. There is no multiplayer, which was a great feature of the console versions.
Graphics: Great Fluid Animation, Backgrounds are detailed. Isometric view can be hard. 9/10
Sound: Here, there are some problems, but its still great. 7/10
Gameplay: Controls take a bit of getting used to, which took me about 5 munutes. 8/10
OVERALL SCORE: 24/30 ---> 80%
tony hawk 2
Tony hawk's pro skater 2 is possibly the gba game out now. Grapicaly it supases what any one thought possible on any portable system. I had bought this game about a month ago and i have played it long enough to give a very detailed review.
Graphics: Thps has amazing graphics the menus come staight from the playstation. the characters are poliganal which alows them to move very smoothly and naturaly. the backgroudns in the game are very nice as well if you have played the playstation version you will automaticaly know you're way around.
Sound: because they could not fit a liscenced sountrack into the game they had to make up there own, which is not all that bad because the songs are all very good the menu song even came from the playstation. The grinding and skating sounds are all very realistic, when they fall you can hear them grunt as well. I recommend you wear headphones because it sounds clearer and more detailed in stereo.
Gameplay: It takes a little getting used to because of the angle and lack of buttons but once you get used to the controls you will be getting 500 000 points easily. The L button is used for flip tricks R for grabs B for ollies A for grinds and the d pad for rotations.
Cons: There are a few things I think they could of added to make the game even better.
1: A multiplayer mode
2: A create a skater mode this is the one i would like to have had the most.
3: though this might be impossible on the gba there is no skatepark creater.
4:they cut out 2 levels from the playstation version and some of the parks don't have the same secret places (not that that's bad)
Thps for the gba is definitly a game to add to youre collection and will never get old until thps3 comes out (it has been confirmed just go to the activisiono2 website)on gba. I woul definitly recomend it over xgames skateboarding.
A Great game for all Skateboarders!
Tony Hawk hit the jackpot when he and Activision Software Company came out with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. The sequel to the game was an even bigger hit, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. The second game was different in some ways. There are more objectives to accomplish in order to get to the next level. The game has new features like new skaters and Park Editor. I played the game and beat within a couple of days. Every time I play the game I figure out something new, like hidden areas, different tricks, and how to score more points. It helped me when I was skateboarding in real life. I learned new tricks through seeing how they perform them. I would recommend this game to anyone who is a skateboarder or is thinking about skateboarding. If your just looking for a cool game, this is it.
