Game Storyline
Players can choose to play as Tony Hawk or one of eight original characters. Additionally, they can create their own character with the Create-A-Skater feature. You can create your own skateboard, too, or simply choose from a wide variety of stock skateboards.
You have the option of selecting from contemporary boards, old school "fishtails," longboards, and 70s skateboards, all of which have different attributes that will have an effect on gameplay.
Gameplay
Developed for the Wii, gamers use an innovative and intuitive control system as they take on the role of Tony Hawk or one of eight other characters. Choose who you want to be, and then compete in specific time-based challenges in one of three gameplay modes including race, trick and slalom.
Gamers can also challenge friends in head-to-head competitions with up to four players at once, as they pull off a variety of high-velocity stunts, all while racing in populated environments filled with cars, pedestrians, and buildings.

Customer Reviews of Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
BEST tony hawk game since underground 1 I like some of the tony hawks but after underground 1 it went DOWNHILL. This is great for rainy days or nights when you can't go skateboarding(with out hurting yourself). Plus one of the new features is racing which is the only thing tony games needed to spice the action up, cause after playing most of them (other than underground 1) the got boreing after 10 mins to 30 minites of play
Downhill. Didn't think they ment that literally.
I played this game for a few minutes. It seemed fun but you will quickly realize why it is being sold for around $30 (outside of retailers). Each race is about 1-2 minutes long which doesn't give much time to actually have fun.

>Customizing your character consists of changing outfits and colors, not stats (speed, jump, balance, etc). This game honestly felt like a minigame. Perhaps fun for a little bit, but there is no real immersion into the game. All you do is race, unlock locations and race some more.

>I would have given this game another star or 2 if the steering wasn't so harsh and if doing tricks was more than mashing buttons. To craigslist this goes...
THPS Goes Back To Its Roots
Remember when THPS used to be just about SKATING? You know, before it became a skateboarding RPG? Downhill Jam is a welcome step backwards in the series to a time when the gameplay was just about skating, catching big air, and doing tricks while blasting through a course. There's no lame story (no story at all, actually) and no mindless free roaming. its just pure arcade style downhill skating, plain and simple, and the series hasn't been this much fun in quite a few years. Hardcore gamers will criticize its simplicity and bare bones approach, but everyone else should like it. Quite simply, you can pick it up, get right into the action without being bogged down by a lot of useless filler. I found the controls to be quite easy to learn, and performing tricks has never been easier with a control scheme very similar to Excite Truck. Overall, as a fun arcade style skateboarding game its a blast. If you want story lines and free roaming, you're better off with THUG or Project 8. To me, this is the TH series getting back to the core of its gameplay that made it fun in the first place.
