Customer Reviews of Tonight Is the Night
Driving Club/Dance Music This cd is simply fabulous! I love the two songs featuring the vocal stylings of Melanie Thronton which are "Call Me" & "Tonight Is The Night". Kayo sounds good on the third single of this album "Don't Go". Good stuff, don't pass this cd up, beacause it is one you will not want to miss!!!
Totally overlooked and underrated Euro album
In 1997, Kayo took the lead in Le Click when the late Melanie Thornton formed La Bouche (the original Le Click scored a hit with "Tonight Is The Night" previously). This incarnation of Le Click is just as good, and the fabulous vocals by Kayo prove so. The first single "Call Me" did quite well, and the second single "Don't Go" didn't do as good as the first, but overall is just an excellent track. Their version of "Tonight Is The Night" was a little heavy on the bass, but a definite track to make you get up and dance. "I'm In Trouble" and "Heaven's Got To Be Better" are both excellent tracks with an uptempo beat (check out the bass on "Heaven..."). "Voodoo Fever" was the track that took me several listens to finally enjoy, as it is another great track; same with "...And We Fly". In it's entirety, Le Click Featuring Kayo is an excellent Euro cd and is very underrated, yet a sublime recording for its time. I'm hoping to hear more from them in the future and can't wait, as I read another reviewer mention they have a scheduled release for 2002. An excellent CD to get the party started, highly recommended!!!
...and we fly..to a place where angels die
Digging through a collection of old CDs, I unearthed an old favorite by dance group Le Click. Excellent music. What can I say, early 90s dance music makes me nostalgic. I've got the American release, which is in all honesty, a well thought-out album in terms of arrangement and so forth. However, I would like a European copy because of the mixing differences. One day I'm gonna get it too. But in the meantime I'll keep playing out what I got. I'm also eagerly awaiting Le Click's recent sophomore album, In Shock 2002.
1. Don't Go - Distant Spanish guitars, great beat, and one hell of a break. This sets the tone for the rest of this album.
2. I'm In Trouble - Mellow groove here. Gotta like that intro; 's got that Gangsta's Paradise element in there. What's good is the beat's built around the vocals so the tempo's just right. Also got a good break.
3. Call Me - This probably the eurodance you were expecting to hear on this CD and it don't disappoint. I've got the rap version. Doesn't make a difference, though I do prefer the vocal (Kayo's voice flows). It's the gyrating synths that gets to me.
4. Heaven's Got To Be Better - Pulsating bass in the intro..word. Similar to track 2 in manner of tempo, it's what makes this song. Again with the TighT groove.
5. ...And We Fly - This my song right here, don't mess. It's solid all around. Spacy intro that takes you into flight, bass beat, and then rhythmic synths that eventually build and become backed up. Really..something that needs to be heard. Lyrics hit home with me also.
6. Tonight Is The Night - In similar fashion to Call Me, this another true blue eurodance hit. Driving snyths..ah hell, no profound messages here. Just move!
7. Voodoo Fever - heh, I wasn't feeling this at all on initial listen. It's 80s type, almost disco. Oddly enough I started to like it. More of a funk groove tune. Not bad at all.
8. Tell Me That You Want Me - Got some Amber type music in here, from her This Is Your Night years anyway. It works well. Great synth lead.
9. Show Me - Solid hit! Fierce euro beat is the driving force behind this track. Intro's especially hot cause you can hear that bass vibrating.
10. Come Into My World - Back to the voodoo fever style. I swear, I'd never expect to like them two tracks on a dance CD such as this but they fit in, AND work like hell.
11. Something To Dream Of - This is on par with ...and we fly which is why I favor it. Again the dreamlike quality, rhythmic synths, and haunting lyrics.
