Customer Reviews of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 3: Advanced Warfighter
Looks very good and is very hard to play I have been playing Ghost Recon games from the very begining. This incarnation looks very good but is a hard game to play. The old GR games had AI that picked you off with one shot, this one is more accurate in that you get hit and can still keep going. <
>The graphics are very pretty. <
>My only complaint is that the missions go on and on. You get to one mission objective and are given another and another. My friend and I are playing the missions on CO-OP mode and that is very fun. <
>Once in a while the game crashs to the desk top but it is a good time to hang it up for the night. <
>Missions have long load times also.
Pretty but broken

>The good:
<
>
<
>- Great looking game.
<
>- Big maps.
<
>- Pretty explosions.

<
>The bad:
<
>- The AI is wretched. Your "advanced warfighters" can't navigate stairs and walk backwards towards the enemy. The tanks in particular are suicidal. They get hung on move orders, so they think they can't move there (where "there" is about 10 feet away). While hung they won't fight, so they will just sit there and get pounded by enemy tanks.
<
>- Lots of bugs, even with the latest patch. It crashes all the time and it just corrupted one of my save games. I was going to hold off writing a review till I beat it, but I'm done with this piece of crap.
<
>- No quick saves, so you have to fight three squads of entrenched, machine gun supported enemies between checkpoints. God forbid you kill the first two squads and then get nailed by a sniper on the last squad.

Different... but Good
Once you get past the fact that this is not the same as earlier GR releases on the PC, it is a fun game as well as being visually stunning. It is also difficult.

>AI & Movement: The AI is intelligent, at sometimes I think the enemy AI behaves better than your squad AI. Having said this, you have to be careful when moving. If you're making a lot of noise the enemy will know what direction you're coming from. i.e. running and hitting items as opposed to sneaking/peaking. But, I do enjoy the new feature of running and sliding (either to prone or on character's back)

<
>Squad-play: You're the squad leader and your survival is paramount. Due to this, you'll have to utilize your team and tactics to survive. Thankfully, the latest patches fixed some of the squad-related glitches.

<
>It's also too bad that you don't have as many options (weapons, etc) when it comes to outfitting your squad. I do enjoy firing the sniper rifle *Through* objects but it has a slow reload (even for a bolt-action) and reacquire target time. I also miss "unlocking" characters w/ special abilities and the like.

>Overall it is an enjoyable game and I look forward to the developments of GRAW2. However it's a toss up between getting the console or PC version.
