Customer Reviews of Timescape: Journey to Pompeii
LOVE IT! I loved almost everything about the game! The history, the graphics, the love-story, the plot, the intelligence.... a few little problems: The women move with far too little grace and the game is WAY TOO short! AND (*G*) where are the sequels that were promised on the package? I'm so sick of the "Go and kill"-Games, I want more lovely historical games like this! They can teach you and arouse interest! VIVA POMPEI!
In What Universe is This Game Fun?
Slow. Confusing. Irritating control of movement. Poorly designed menu structure. Above all, it's BORING. The Ancient Roman environments are beautiful to look at (though it's no MYST), but you can't interact with most of what's there, and there seem to be no "easter eggs" or fun hidden details. Even the premise is weak... "you wake up in a long-ago time and have to find your true love by asking boring, repetitive, overly-structured questions of one-dimensional "people" you don't know and don't care about... to reach a goal that may or may not feel rewarding." Replayability factor: sub-zero. Playability factor: .1 Go look at a tree for an hour... you'll enjoy it so much more.
Boring!
The puzzles didn't seem to mean anything with respect to the alleged story line and some of them solved themselves if you happened to stumble to the right place. There wasn't really anything to solve if you wandered around enough. The interface was lame, no compass of any kind so you could't tell which direction you were facing. I didn't even bother to finish the game
