Customer Reviews of Three Men and a Baby
Here's a review that actually talks about the film itself I'm sick to death of reading review after review of this film and all anybody talks about is the ghost in the curtain. Let me make it clear for all of you who are seriously wondering about it: that was all a big mistake on the part of the production people. It was never meant to be in the film to begin with. O.K.? That having been said, let me get on with the plot summery. The film was pure delight. Three bachlors who never planned on parenting, suddenly have an infant whom one of them fathered dumped into thier care. My favorite scene is when Tom Sellek and Steve Guttenberg are trying to change Mary, (the baby,) for the very first time, and it proves to be much more difficult than ether of them thought. Hysterical! As for the drug sub-plot, I know it's diriveting from the scenes with the baby, but perhaps the film makers were short on ideas and felt that they needed some way to make a full length feature movie, or that the movie needed some excitment and suspence, or perhaps they just wanted to remain faithful to the origonal french film, THREE MEN AND A CRADLE, which also contained a sub-plot involving drug dealers. (And is also well worth seeing.) As for the "pat ending", I liked it just fine. In fact, I wouldn't have preferred that it end any other way! Getting back to the origonal french version, the one I saw was dubbed in english, which for me was a plus, since I've never liked reading subtitles. I don't know how easily available the dubbed version is, but it's still a delight, every bit as much as this film.
Great Family Friendly Movie
Ah, the Eighties. The soundtrack of this movie alone brings a nostalgic tear to my eye. Okay, this movie didn't blow us away with its depiction of bachelorhood, but it did make me laugh, and what more can a person really want in a movie? Steve Guttenberg, Tom Selleck, and Ted Danson are the Three Muskateers Plus Baby. By the way, when compared to its sequel, Three Men and a Little Lady, this movie DOES look like a masterpiece. Good movie -- one you can certainly enjoy with your own little ones, and Grandma and Grandpa.
Fine Entertainment!!
This older film, dating back to 1987, was a sleeper hit and a real favorite when it came out. The cast of Tom Selleck, Steve Gutenberg, and Ted Danson was just fine, and the story line was terrific. Here we see three "professional men" having to deal with the realities of life- a baby- and the predicaments they have to deal with are realistic and not patronizing at all. Then to discover that Danson is the real "Daddy" brings an even greater element to the film.
I believe that this had to be one of Selleck's best movies, and the ensemble cast is excellent. A fine family film, and to watch and listen to the trio sing "Goodnight Sweetheart" is worth the price of the movie.
