Customer Reviews of Thibaud: Baroque Repertoire
Old-Fashioned, but lovely playing In the day of scholastic Baroque playing, these performances may sound very anachronistic. But one thing Thibaud does here and nobody, except Kreisler and Milstein could do is that Thibaud brings these pieces "alive." There is a marvelous lack of "dry academism" in here that is actually really refreshing. Thibaud's sense of rubato and pacing is an art itself(and unfortunately a "lost" art these days). This is a fine example of the fact that Baroque music can be playing with Charm. Not for stuffy academicians or "hi-fi" buffs, but highly recommended for violin enthusiasts.
