Customer Reviews of Thermalright XP-90
Compatibility issues The first thing that needs to be said is that this heatsink DOES have compatibility issues, albeit small ones. According to Thermalright's site (which, unfortunately, I didn't bother to read until after trying to install the heatsink), Gigabyte and Chaintech motherboards are incompatible with the XP-90. Gigabytes have an orderable part to fix the problem, whereas you're just flat out of luck with a Chaintech board. <

>I use a Chaintech board, so I was unable to install it into my rig. However, I just put it in a friends' instead (well, after he paid me for it of course) and it's working swimmingly. A good 5deg drop in CPU temp. after a good workout (playing FEAR).
Cools like crazy...
Dropped the temps on my 3200 winchester vs. stock. However, if you don't overclock your pc's the stock heatsink and retail fan cool quite well on these A64's. I have mine OC'd to 2.45 and it dropped the temps from 38c idle to 32c. Get some AS5 with it and a decent 92mm fan from panaflo. Some retail packages come with a fan that works OK, but there are better, quieter alternatives. Panaflo makes some of the best.

>Installation was easy after I gave it a couple "dry" runs. Use a "back and up, then set it down" motion to get it on the cpu without much fuss. Oh, also cools my ram as well...(MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mobo.)

>Anyway, this is one of the best heatsinks out there. It's also gotten better scores vs the XP120 too....so stick with this one.
