Customer Reviews of The Who - The Kids Are Alright (Special Edition)
THE TRUE MASTERS OF MOTEL/HOTEL & INSTRUMENT MASS DESTRUCTION. I will be writing a review on the legendary historic classic Rock n' Roll movie entitled "THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT" starring the true masters of disaster and one of England's pride and joys, T-H-E W-H-O! THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT" was originally released in theaters in 1979 by THE WHO group limited and in this DVD Special Edition in 2003 by Pioneer Entertainment (USA) Inc. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary historic movie or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the overall best informative and most accurate review possible. <

>THE WHO will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered for composing and recording some of Rock's most all-time sacred anthems ever. THE WHO will also forever be remembered for being the true masters of disasters by being the kings of motel/hotel & instrument mass destruction. THE WHO at one time were always known for destroying their instruments at the end of their concert performances. If that wasn't enough, Keith Moon would invent and perfect the art of destroying motel/hotel rooms. Moon would also drive cars into swimming pools not just at the motels/hotels, but at his own home. Moon was also known for throwing furniture as well as television sets either off the top roof or out of his room balcony. This whole Rock n' Roll documentary movie is the story of the real genuine original band THE WHO from the 1960's and the 1970's. THIS IS THE WHO AT THEIR VERY BEST people. There are many stories that were left out of the movie and for a very good reason. There were many Moonie stories that were so crazy and dangerous, that they could not be told on film. <

>The original WHO members comprising of lead singer and frontman Roger Daltrey, lead and rhythm guitarist Pete Townshend, the late great bassist John Entwistle and the late great mad drummer Keith (Moon The Loon) Moon is what made THE WHO the crazy lunatic legends they would forever always be known and remembered for. In my opinion, Keith (Moon The Loon) moon was not just one of the all-time greatest drummers in Rock n' Roll history, but he was one of the craziest lunatics that ever walked the face of the earth, let alone Rock n' Roll history. I have read three books on Keith Moon alone and let me tell you, its really a wonder that Keith Moon lived as long as he did. Keith Moon should have died in his childhood years and not in his thirties. Keith Moon was the most REAL Rock n' Roll star as they came who really truly lived the Rock n' Roll lifestyle like it was a religion. <

>Moon was extremely charismatic and had an natural sense of humor. Moon was an extremely funny person. Moon actually loved making people laugh and make them happy. However, Moon had the legendary comedian's disease of being extremely funny on the outside, but extremely unhappy in the inside. And that, my fellow Rock n' Roller's, is what would kill him in the end along with the aid of certain prescribed medications he would overdose on to help him kick his alcohol and drug habits. <

>In my opinion, when you think about it, its really a wonder that Pete Townshend is still alive and lived to tell about it. Pete Townshend was another Keith Moon until the day Moon died. When Keith Moon died in 1978, the Keith Moon that was instilled in Townshend as well as part of Pete Townshend and alot of THE WHO, would die with him forever. THE WHO would never be the same again after Keith Moon died. PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG, I AM NOT KNOCKING THE WHO IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. <

>"THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT" is THE WHO and all their glory years. This legendary historic film includes blistering live versions of "My Generation," "I Can't Explain," "Young Man (Blues)," "Baba O' Riley," "A Quick One," "Pinball Wizard," "See Me, Feel Me" and "Won't Get Fooled Again." THE WHO would also deliver fine video performances such as "Happy Jack," "Magic Bus" and "Tommy, Can You Hear Me." THE WHO would also record excellent studio outtakes on the legendary song "Who Are You" from 1978. <

>Following Keith (Moon The Loon) Moon's untimely death in 1978, THE WHO would carry on magnificently and forever keep Moonie's legend alive and intact. The Who would carry on with former FACES drummer Kenney Jones for a little while but Jones WAS NO KEITH MOON. As a result, Jones would soon leave the band. There would be other drummers afterwards that would follow but they could never replace Keith Moon. In my opinion, THE WHO found the PERFECT drummer and the ONLY drummer that is capable of coming close to filling in Keith Moon's shoes. His name, Zak Starkey, son of Richard Starkey A.K.A. one Ringo Starr. <
> <
>Zak Starkey has come from the bloodline of perhaps, the most famous drummer that ever lived that played in the greatest band that music ever produced, THE BEATLES. It was also Zak who would always call Keith Moon "Uncle Keith." Rock legend has it that Uncle Keith not only purchased Zak's first drum kit, but Uncle Keith as well as Zak's father Ringo taught young Zak quite a bit about drumming. Zak Starkey brought back the youth and the power of THE WHO one more time. With this in mind, THE WHO was performing at a level not seen or heard since Keith Moon was alive and was doing great until John Entwistle died in 2002 on the eve of beginning their tour in Las Vegas, Nevada. When Entwistle died, alot of what remained in the original WHO would also die with him. <

>In closing, with Daltrey and Townshend that is left of the original WHO and Zak Starkey behind the drumming helms, THE WHO still has proven to persevere and carry on up to this very day. I, for one, wish them all well and hope that they can carry on forever. I would sure love to see it, wouldn't you? Thanks for reading my review and I truly hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have truly enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also deeply hope that all of you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. THE WHO LIVES! R.I.P. Keith (Moon The Loon) Moon (1946-1978) and John Entwistle (1944-2002). Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever in Rock, John L.
AMAZING.
Pretty much for anyone who ever loved, liked, or mildly enjoyed The Who. It's a rocumentary that just blows every other in its genre out of the water!
A Must -Have!
This movie is a must-have if you love rock and roll! Bands like The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Led Zepplin changed the way we listen to music forever. This gives such a rare inside look at the original members that it leaves you feeling like you were along for the ride. The Soundtract to this movie is a must have also! For you gen xer's, the song "Who Are You" wasn't always the theme song to a TV show! I highly reccomend this documentary. Long Live Rock!
