Customer Reviews of The Tommyknockers
This Mini Series Sucks Bad!!! But Ms. Cassidy is Pretty HOT! This would have to be one of the worst Mini Series ever made. It is based on the Stephen King book of the same name which he admitted to writing in a cocaine and alcohol induced frenzy. And this adaptation shows what all of that drug abuse can do when you try to make it into a movie. There are enough holes in the plot to drive a truck through and Marg Helgenberger does not make a convincing writer of anything let alone Western Novels. If you can think of a rejected storyline for The X Files then you should get some idea of the quality of this movie. Even Traci Lords keeps her clothes on during this movie which was a big disappointment to me. The only redeeming factor in this piece of junk is the presence of Joanna Cassidy who I have had a crush on since she appeared in various stages of undress in the movie Bladerunner which is why I have given this turkey 5 stars.
0 STARS: Was this supposed to be scary?
You know it's interesting that Stephen King has written some great books, but let's not be deluded about the fact that he has also written some garbage. While "Tommyknockers" is a TERRIBLE and worthless movie, the book is just as bad. This movie should never have been made because the storyline is just plain ridiculous. If this movie scares you, you must be a total wuss.

green light
Horror & mystery gradually invades the peaceful settings of a village in New England. This process, excellently pictured throughout, has a slow & sure pace. As life in the countryside itself. Those who aren't used to such a life may find it boring, others will admire its masterly reflection.

>The rest is usual Stephen King-stuff, showing us an alien spaceship deeply dug into the earth. Displaying itself by a penetrating green light. By the way, this also explains the countryside-connection: you cannot get townspeople digging in the woods in their spare time. In the end the male lead (Jimmy Smits) sacrifies himself to save the village population from being taken in by the aliens. By doing so he also sacrifies his love for a young woman (Marg Helgenberger), who had been very active in un-earthing the green evil.

>The green light's ambassador on earth is performed by Traci Lords, who uses a killer-lipstick as one of her dirty tricks. In her autobiography Traci reveals 'the Tommyknockers' were shot in New Zealand -- a long way from New England. Who cares?
