STAND UP AT ITS BEST This title portrays Mrs. Goldberg as the truly finest actress she is, plastic, witty, ultra talented multi facetic role performer, able to keep the entire play running counting only on herself, on a single stage, no efx, no tricks, only true acting and nothing else. it is good to see there are still actors and plays that are true to acting in itself, and not depending on effects or fashion or else, true to the original essence of acting. I watched this again and again for years since 1992 and never got tired of it, not to mention the brilliant writing (thank you Harry Nilsson!! anybody noticed??)

I also think this Film is a play... and it's a good one too. Unfortunatelly it is a play made for Europe (or Off Off Broadway...) The whole concept of the movie is brilliant. Whoopy shows diverse personalities in a detached from reality actress with no job... and wait untill you get to see the end... When will this movie be released again ????

Whoopie Goldberg is my favorite actress. Having said that, this is the worst film I've ever seen. I rented it expecting something totally different. I only watched the first 15 minutes and then turned it off. I've since found out what the ending is, but I'm not sure it justifies having to watch more than five minutes of film to get there. As a ten minute Twilight Zone episode, it might be great, but otherwise, please watch something else of her's.
