Customer Reviews of The Prisoner: Living in Harmony
Not very good, but important for the series This is not the best episode of the Prisoner, by far. This one does not take place in the Village, but in a old, western town of Harmony (Patrick McGoohan had always wanted to do a Western) where Number 6 is a sheriff, though he refuses to wear a gun.(This episode was not originally shown in the States because of 2 possible reasons. 1. not carrying a gun was too close to an anti-war message during the Vietnam war and 2. the use of mind-altering drugs* was not appropriate for TV.) Alexis Kanner, who also appears as Number 48 in Fall Out, plays the Kid, a silent, simple-minded gun slinger. He really brings down this episode. He acts and looks so stupid and crazy. In Harmony, a woman working at the local saloon, befriends Number 6, but the Kid is jealous because he likes her. And in a fit of rage, the Kid will end up killing her.
At the end of the episode, Number 6 gets into a gun fight and it killed. But of course, our main character cannot die. And he doesn't really. *He is awakened from a drug-induced spell, and finds himself in a fake saloon with cardboard standups of the characters. He was made to hallucinate, and hopefully break, telling the Village why he resigned. Be sure to catch what happens at the very end, and how the people involved with the plan react after it is through.
But if you had to watch just one episode of the Prisoner, don't let it be this one. I was very disappointed when I saw it. It's not too good, but it is important for the whole series. So for you followers of the Prisoner out there, you should see it, just to complete the show.
