Not Pretender-y Enough NO SPOILERS <
> <
>I have purchased & watched all 4 seasons & the 2 movies within the last 6 months. I remember the first 2 seasons pretty well, but I guess something came up for the last 2, because I only remember a couple of episodes from each. I had never seen the movies before. <
> <
>I did not really like the movies because they: <
> <
>1. Obviously need a third (or more) movie, which we will probably never see. <
>2. Brought in a lot of fantasy elements that had not existed before. <
>3. Did not "feel" like a Pretender episode. <
>4. I thought the "Island" in question would be a tropical one. I was really looking forward to Andrea Parker in a bikini - wroooow! Was I sadly disappointed! <
> <
>A lot of the plot elements felt like thay were just thrown in, and we never got to see Jarod doing his Pretender thing - saving the downtrodden, helping others, etc. They were pretty much focused on him. <
> <
>All in all, I was (and still am) disappointed in the resolution of "Island of the Haunted". (Hint, hint, Mr. van Sickle, et al) <
> <
>Also, the lack of any special features was a HUGE disappointment. <
> <
>I am generously giving the movies 3 stars, primarily because they exist, and help to clear up the otherwise unforgivable cliffhanger for Season 4. (Although I am still unclear on *exactly* what happened)(You gotta watch it to understand it)
The Pretender movies covers a lot..and still there is questions
The Pretender was a show that intriged and interested me. It was the Fugitive, part Quantum Leap (without the Leaping) and part Soap Opera/mystery plot.

>These two TV movies, both made especially for TNT network in 2001, are, in my opinion, a expanded version of the TV show episodes. The original cast is all here, and It seem like the shows was almost never canceled
<

<
>These two TV movies answer a few questions and asks more, leaving the door open to future TV Pretender movies which never came to pass..and that is too bad

<
>If you are a fan of this series, these two movies will enhance your collection. If not, the Prentender 2001 will bring the whole four season show (all available on DVD) into hazy focus.

>Either way, these two movies have quality...rare in TV movies these days

Good movies, not enough to end the series
The Pretender has been one of the best series in the last ten years. It had great scripts, some episodes were absolutely amazing and surprising. I didn't watch the last two movies when they had been sent, so I had only read about them till date. Both the movies on this DVD have the usual series' impact, but do not give a real end to the whole series as maybe they had been intended to.The movies deserved, both for the quality of scripts per se and for the acting, five stars, but the lack of commentaries has been a very odd surprise.
