Customer Reviews of The Other Woman
WOW This book blows you away with its raw emotion. So many twists and turns. I read this book so fast, I didn't even have time to think about what was going to happen next- which is good because the events unfolded unpredictably. I was left with my jaw open on several occasions.
Even though the book is entirely in first person the narrator -being nameless throughout- her emotions are crystal clear! Fortunately we are let in on other characters thoughts and feelings through, e-mails, and IMs, the narrators chance encounters, or private conversations and of course her to-the-point-questions!!!!!
This story is totally believable, it is apparent that people who are strangers can have an instant bond when thrown together in tragic times. Page 142 is shockingly erotic yet brief, very though provoking stuff- be careful if you happen to stumble upon this page in public.
EJD leads the reader to all the clues, but still I (like all the characters in the book) ignored them, and was stunned by the turn the book takes. It was hard for me to remember that the author is male- he was clearly able to zero-in on all of a woman's moods, emotions, tones and complexities. The end was slightly disappointing. I really wanted to see the answers to those questions.... An epilogue would have been nice.
Overall this is a great book, not a book to pick up from the library, this is a book to have on your bookshelf in the event you are in the same situation, and you need some help creating your own questions!!! I especially loved the way that EDJ makes references to his old characters- just a snippet or two to let the readers know that they are alive and thriving (Tammy from Cheaters, Kim from MIMC).
WOW...What a Story!!
I must admit I was kind of scared to read this one. I attempted to read "Theives Paradise" but I could not get into it. But I loved many of his other novels.
The narrator, who is dedicated news producer, describes her marriage as strong and loving. She works nights, weekends, holidays, birthdays and all of the other very important dates. Her husband Charles is a middle school teacher - lots of free time. Her world turns upside down when she receives a call from a David Lawrence-the antagonist- who has been trying desparately to track her down. You see... his wife has been having an affair with her husband. Things begin to get ugly. Yet, the unique part of EJD story is the relationship between the narrator and David Lawrence. There is passion, lust, excitment, pain and craziness that is shared between these two couples as they try to save their marriages and find themselves. I definately was not prepared for what happened next.
EJD....excellant. It was wonderfully written. I really enjoyed the relationship between the narrator and her friend. David Lawrence was my favorite character.
Peace and Blessings!!
A book that starts off with drama!!
This was one of ejd most fulfilling and entertaining novels. First, the book began with drama and continued throughout. Although fiction, ejd once again forced you to become one with the characters in the book. I recommend this book as a must read.
