Customer Reviews of The Last One to Know
BUY THIS C.D. In my opinion, this is one of my favorite Reba albums. I love every song on this C.D., and I think some of her best songs are on it. I could listen to it over and over and never get tired of it. Some of the best songs are "The Last One To Know", "Just Across The Rio Grande", "What You Gonna Do About Me", "The Stairs", and "I've Still Got the Love We Made" You won't be dissapointed!
TOUCHES YOUR HEART.....In The Top 5 Ever
This CD and her 1990 masterpiece "Rumor Has It" are theabsolute two best albums ever by the absolute best artist ever. RebaMcEntire didn't hit her pinnacle until the early and mid nineties, but this album touches every aspect of the soul. With heart wrenching tracks and then rollicking tunes, it has it all. The standout track is clearly "What You Gonna Do About Me," a poignant question from a girl to her parents who are undergoing a divorce. The immigrant's plight is dealt with truthfully in "Just Across The Rio Grande" . . . Reba's amazing voice soars on "The Stairs," a tear-jerking ballad dealing with abuse. All these songs touch anyone with a soul. Reba speeds it up on the hit single "Love Will Find Its Way To You" and "I Don't Want To Be Alone," her self penned song. Hit songwriter Matraca Berg's hit single "The Last One To Know" leads off this classic album, a great song from a great writer. Overall, this CD is amazing and should touch anyone. Highly recommended. 5 Stars!
Emotional traditional country not for faint hearts
This is among my favorite Reba albums and is one of her most traditional sounding albums. Reba was going through a bad time emotionally. Her marriage was on the rocks and broke up soon afterwards. It shows in this album.
What you gonna do about me is about impending divorce, although I don't think it was about her own. It is sung from the perspective of a child. The stairs is about a battered wife who lies to cover up the fact that she is constantly beaten. Just across the Rio Grande (also recorded by Holly Dunn) is another emotional song about the divide between Mexico and the USA.
There are lighter moments here, as on Love will find its way to you, but the songs that linger longest in the memory are the sad songs. With this album more than any other, Reba showed that she could match Dolly and Tammy in the emotional stakes.
