Customer Reviews of The Jerusalem Report
5 Stars In Content, But 1 Star For Targeted Audience The content of this entire magazine is absolutely wonderful. Hence, the five stars. However, in the magazine's attempt to reach an "affluent, educated audience of senior business executives, thought leaders, and policy makers," I feel that it has somehow alienated itself from the average Joe Normal who might be reached otherwise, but who never will, simply because he doesn't understand the "$10.00 words" many of the writers feel necessary to use when getting their point across. For whatever reasons, some writers feel the need to express themselves in terms completely foreign to the average reader's mind by using words that sound impressive but whose meaning often eludes the average reader. I believe in the power of the printed word. I also believe that if one is a truly gifted writer, he or she will have the ability to be able to express themselves in such a way so as to reach ALL audiences, not just a select few. After all, shouldn't that be the intent of any magazine or newspaper - to educate the public, and not just a certain element? In the past, when sitting down to read some of the magazine's articles, I've had to read whole paragraphs over at least three or four times in order to figure out what the writer could have set in one or two simple sentences. I respectfully suggest that if you are a gifted and informed writer, your gift and knowledge will shine through without the use of $10.00 words and terminology unfamiliar to the average Joe. This is a wonderful magazine. I respectfully suggest, however, that it might wish to consider targeting a larger audience for educational purposes (given so much inaccurate reporting in the news media concerning Israel), and that in order to do so, it will have to ditch many of the $10.00 words some of the writers are so bent on using.
I look foward to each new issue
I find the varying views expressed in this excellent bi-weekly to be representative of a large part of the broad spectrum of political views of the interested parties in Israel and the worldwide Jewish community.
And the Jerusalem Report also makes a great gift!
The Left
Both "The Jerusalem Report" & "The Jerusalem Post" are owned by the same company. One is the 'left-wing' version of the news, the other is the 'right-wing'. Why do I mention this? So you won't be fooled (as the other reviewer was) into thinking that either of these are "moderate". There is absolutely NO moderate or unbiased reporting about this from anybody - - not even "The Economist" (The Brits are the ones who... up this country to begin with; how can they be unbiased?).
You want to understand or have a balanced view of the situation from the Israeli perspective? Read both "The Jerusalem Report" & "The Jerusalem Post" and then try to come to some conclusion yourself.
