Customer Reviews of The House Without a Christmas Tree
Everyone enjoyed this movie! Great! I am glad to see from the reviews that I am not the only one to have enjoyed this movie. What a great storyline, and that surprise ending was to die for! I now I'm not the only one who didn't have dry eyes in the audience that day. <

>But I'd like to address some comments from a Mr DJ Honeybear. He wrote a very nice review, but than, a the last line of his review, he offered up a slur to current movies out right now. I would like to address this rude comment now, if I may. <

>If you do not like what is being shown in today's theaters, than may I suggest you stop watching it. You imply that you have seen some of the slop that is being passed off for entertainment these days, and that makes me sad. I happen to think that the entertainment in today's modern theaters is the best in our current generation. Possibly the best in this century! <

>I for one, do not appreciate your curt, and sneaky attacks on our modern day actors and entertainment providers. You owe all of them a sincere and heartfelt apology. Thank you. <

Excellent Family Value Movie
Thank You so much for your reviews! I have searched my memory & I couldn't remember the name of this movie. This is a very simple made movie, with good values, drama & laughter. I loved the character, Addie Mills (Lisa Lucas), with her ironic humor,& her caring heart. She reminded me of myself at that age. If you are looking for special effects, this isn't for you...but, if you are searching for a family movie that touches your heart, you will LOVE this one!
Fond childhood memories
Some films you see once, and they quickly exit your mind. Some linger wistfully through the decades of your life, and this little movie is one of those special movies for me. The House Without a Christmas Tree is a story about a little girl named Addie Mills, played wonderfully by child actress Lisa Lucas (WONDERFUL TO READ YOUR POST HERE, MS. LUCAS!!). Addie lives with her grandmother and embittered father, played with heartbreaking perfection by Jason Robards. When Addie brings home a beautiful Christmas tree against her father's wishes, it sets off a volcano of emotions within each of them, most deeply felt by her widowed dad, who so terribly misses his wife that he dreads just the thought of a celebration without her. The characters are comfortable together, the quaint town and genuine feel of small-town love and brotherhood is enough to bring a tear to your eye when you consider how the simple pleasures of days gone by are so often missed in today's hustle and bustle of life. First aired in 1972, this movie takes place in the late 1940's in Nebraska but will touch chords in people from all generations coast to coast. Add to that a gentle and lovely theme song which plays throughout the film, and you have a memorable and timeless story that stood the test of time for this reviewer who is now forty-something and still loves to watch good films from my childhood and share them with my own children today.
